HTC issues Touch Pro security update
1 Attachment(s)
HTC has issued a security update for the Touch Pro.. It fixes an issue with WAP security.. Go here for more info or go here for word from HTC about it...
DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL UNLESS YOU HAVE GSM! As quoted from an Admin from the site I found this at.. Quote:

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
IE7 gives me that type of error on my pc quite a bit for legit sites.
Would this update completely block those sites from being accessed on the TP? I'm not going to install it if that's the case. |

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
You need to use Active Sync to get the file onto your Touch Pro.. It is an .exe file..

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
I saw this earlier today and didn't think much of it. Is this something everyone should do?

That being said, I transferred the file to my phone, but I haven't installed it yet...kind of waiting on some others to do it to see if it makes things better or not!! I got my TP working pretty sweet now and I'm hesitant to do anything to it that might screw it up! |

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
Weird.. I posted a comment on the site where I found the security update asking if this was GSM or CDMA only.. As soon as I get the answer, I will let you all know...

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
It's an .exe program. I inserted it directly into my windows directory. There shouldn't be a need to run it, should there?

Transferred the file to the phone and it says to run the program from the correct device. I moved it to Main Storage from the Storage Card and tried again and got the same thing. What will moving it to the main Windows folder do? Shouldn't the fix be "installed" or the program "executed" or something like that? |

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
In order to run it from the storage card, or anywhere else it would have to be a cab file. When that's done it places the exe file in the correct directory. Since it's already an exe file it should work just placing it in windows directory

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
As a somewhat side note, for poor slobs like me who never got AS to work properly these .exe patches are thing of dread. Anyway, I'm leaving this one be.

Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
What is wrong with your Active Sync?
|
Re: HTC issues Touch Pro security update
It installed fine but never connected the TP properly with the computer. It found the device in Windows XP, but then wouldn't do anything.
I ran the programs "diagnostics" which seemed useless and the only thing it said was something about Outlook not being installed (which it isn't, I hate that program and think it's retarded of MS if they require it be installed to have AS work). So, either I need to make some adjustment to the TP (maybe in ActiveSync app on the phone?)/my computer/the XP program or just forget it I guess. |
