Enhanced Messaging Service

When someone sends me a text message over 160 characters..They keep getting an error message back saying "Message Delivered to *phonenumber* as plain text Destination does not support Enhanced Messaging Service" has anyone else run into this problem with their touch pro or know how to fix this? I never ran into this problem with my previous phones.

I would like to know this answer as well.
I currently have an enV and love it. The EMS works great and allows me to send over 160 character text messages to other Verizon phones.

However I was looking to buy an HTC Touch Pro for Verizon and was curious to know whether or not my friends would get the error once I switched from phone to smartphone.

I read the following site but it is really outdated:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...haracters.html

That may be some help but I'm sure someone else on here may have newer info.

Hope this helps

Anything over 160 characters is split into 2 msg's. Mine does...send and receive. Maybe your friends phone doesn't support EMS?

ay gator....im sure wit a reg tweak, u could squeeze out more than 160 characters in a given sent message....check out da tweaks thread for ur fone on this site....for starters u can try: HKLM\software\palm\varnish\messaging\sms
MaxPartsPerMsg to 10 (from 1)
thats the path for my 800w..but im sure u can get more than 160 characters for a sent message

If you get a text from another PPC phone that is 160+ characters, it will be split into 2 messages..BUT if u get a text from a NONPPC phone you get that error message I posted above.. I also found out that its not our phones, its the network..So there isnt a tweak that will fix it..

even if that PPC has the reg edited and sent a text with 160+ characters, it'll be delivered in two text messages anyway?????

add-on: ok, i c now..oh well though, still easier for us to compose from start to finish

My wife's phone is a LG Lotus (non-ppc) and neither one of us gets an error. It's just simply split into 2 separate msg's for extremely fun viewing! But I do agree that it's the network, not the phones.
