FINALLY fixed my picturemail - HOW TO

So here's the issue I was having w/ my pic mail. I could send pics, but pics would never be received by my phone. Sprint tech support was useless.

Here was my fix; maybe it will work for other people (i tried EVERYTHING else prior to this; different ROMs, update profile, manually enter profile info, reprovision phone, etc.):

Step 1
Install the picmail.cab from PIE or Opera

Step 2
Get into EPST Advanced Programming (##778#)
You will need your MSL

Step 3
Click View Info, and select M.IP Customer Profile1

Step 4
Check setting for Primary HA Address; if it is 255.255.255.255, then your picmail won't work (at least it didn't for me)

I'm not sure if it's phone specific or not, but I set the IP address in there that was from my old phone (Katana DLX, ##3282#)69.something, and then update all items, soft reset.

My phone came back up, and picmail was working again.

Hope this helps for others.

yeah 69.something isn't exactly considered a valid step in a "how to" post.

THANKS FOR NOTHING FOOL!

No need for the attitude. As I mentioned above, the reason I didn't post the full IP is because I don't know if it's device/account specific.

then there was no need to post to begin with then if it only helps you. At least post it and we can try and see if it works. If we all had the original 255.255.255.255 then Im sure its not account specific now is it

My picturemail works fine and my Primary HA address is 255.255.255.255. However, my Secondary HA address is where there is an actual IP address.

Thanks for posting. It's interesting that mine is 255.255.255.255 and my PM works fine. I was just on the phone with Sprint Advanced Data support and asked about this field, and they told me that Primary HA Address should be 255.255.255.255.

Perhaps your Secondary HA Address was not properly populated. From what I can tell, that is the actual IP address used by the phone.

so how do you properly populate it?

This is what to do:

Go to dialpad, enter ##DATA#, choose Edit, enter MSL, and use left soft menu key and choose Restore. The phone will reboot.

Once it reboots, go to Settings/System and choose Update Profile. This should repopulate the phone's custom data settings, including the AAA shared key, IP address, vision email address, etc.

I've done this many times for a variety of reasons. Do at own risk.
