Just an FYI... With your leather case, eventually you'll start to notice some wearing in the color... Mine started to turn a dark burnt orange at the edges from rubbing in my pants pocket... Still looks good though... And eventually I'll re-dye to get it that fresh new look...

Don't forget to hit the thanks button...

you gotta take the black off first. Here's my tip on how to do that but it's sort of long term but it works if you protect your tp...

Basically, after you dye yours, if you put one of those protectors like bestskinsever or invisbleshield or anything like that, by the time you change your mind and want to put on a lighter color, if you just peel off the protective skin, the color will come off your cover CLEAN and the battery cover will look like it did when it came from the store.

then you can obviously dye it the color you want and apply another protective skin allowing you to protect your paint job (it won't rub off anymore) as well as giving you a way to change the color if you later decide to do so.

You "cooked" it for too long.

I recommend stirring continuosly for the whole 15 minutes... If you let it sit too long in one place it will definitely warp the cover...

Thought I'd make a few comments too, followed DV8Ways instructions best I could, this additional info may help some others:

Used a dual seal freezer Ziploc quart sandwich baggie, the cover would easily fit in it.

Didn't have a measuring cup so instead my coffee pot maker at about 1.5 cup mark fills my coffee mug.

That full coffee mug is what I heated in the micro wave. Heated the way I would reheat a cup of coffee, certainly not scalding hot.

My dye was in liquid form but the bottle isn't clear so no way to be exactly sure how much you've poured in. Pretty sure I poured in between 1/4 and 1/3. You just kind of have to guess.

The pot was big enough that the baggie would fit in unencumbered. It didn't have to be folded etc. There was enough water so that the Ziploc baggie could go in about 3/4 of the way.

Per DV8's instructions, heat the water in the pot on high until bubbles start to come up, not a boil, just before. Next though I wasn't certain what "Low" should be as on my stove there are actually 11 different settings! So to replicate "low", I assumed setting 3 and it worked fine.

To accomplish the "continuous" stirring I just held the baggie and moved it up and down and turned it right and left. It kept the dye moving around the cover, and as DV8 says, do this for the entire 15 mins

Hope this info helps others a little, as we don't all have the same size pots, same types of baggies, same stoves etc there may be enough info here to kind of have a "standard" to go by.

And be sure you buff it for about 10 mins! I know at first mine looked pretty bad, and I thought for sure it was messed up, but after enough buffing it started to look better and better, then to the point of being perfect!

Thanks Again to DV8Ways! it's a fun thing to be able to do!
