Garmin XT

I've heard about this program called Garmin Mobile XT which will turn your Touch Pro into a navigation unit. I was wanting to know if any of you users have any experience using this on your TP. Does it work through 3g technology? How wouldI exactly get it onlto my phone?

I just loaded it onto my phone. Nice package. I like it more than TomTom7 so far.

It searches the internet for locations, which makes it real nice. One thing I hated about TT6 or TT7 was the reliance on custom POI files.

works great on My TP only thing I dont like is that it does not say street names, ie turn left at "main St".

Yea, it doesn't support TTS (text to speech) but I don't think any WM NAV program supports that (I may be wrong on that)

I do LOVE Garmin XT & it works awesome in my TouchPro. The one thing that really really irritates me however is after legally buying the program (& it's not cheap) I still have to use a crack to get it to run from my 16 gig Sandisk card................

Hey, that's not a bad idea. I've been thinking of getting it, but didn't want to have to use their sd card and not be able to have my own...maybe I should look for one too. That's been the biggest thing stopping me from picking it up. Thanks for the heads up.

It is such a pain to be honest and get a legal copy on your phone...

It's almost like Garmin is inviting people to steal it... (I don't condone it but that is just my impression of the Garmin XT program)

iGo does support TTS. I had a friend with it and as we were coming to a street to turn it would say "in 500 feet turn left onto Ridge Road then turn left onto Stale Street." I really like iGO.. it's got a nice interface.

I run OnCourse which I believe is an iGo product. It's just about like it except it's the 2008 version with updated maps. Really nice nav software.

garmin or tomtom etc do not rely on a data connection to work. if you are travelling it is quite likely that you will lose data at some point and your gps would be useless.
