Do we actually know that? Have we heard anything from Skyfire?

Thing is, VGA is four times as many pixels as QVGA. This means four times the bandwidth needs to be streamed to your phone, which is essentially how Skyfire works, streaming an interactive video of the web page to your phone. They may not have the infrastructure to handle this much data, and/or our connection may not be fast enough for it. So it's completely feasible that they can't/won't update for native VGA support any time soon.

The way skyfire works is that you are connected remotely to one of there servers, similar to a remote desktop connection (which is also why skyfire kills batteries, as you always have a constant connection). So yes everything you access using Skyfire is going through there servers.

Yep, similar to the way Opera Mini works. It's all streaming from their servers.
