Idea to close text, when closing keyboard
 

I was at work and was txting away and thought that we need a program that closes the text when you close the keyboard. It sucks to type then send then close then hit then the X and even the ok. Would be great to type, send then close keyboard to main screen. Am I the only one?? If im not is there on of the GODS out there to write a program?

Im not complaining about this. People have stupider Hacks and programs. Trust me if there was a program that allowed to close it. Youd use it!!

I was thinking the same thing. Think about it, if you were using a regular flip phone, you'd send and close, and when you re-opened the thing it would be on the main screen. I personally would love something like this. Mortscript perhaps?

I have to agree with the OP. He wasn't so much complaining as much as seeing if it is something people would use. I know if it was available, I would use it.

....nothing wrong with asking. everyone bashes when somebody asks about a little tweak, instead of something big like better audio, or tv out on the diamond... but this is something i would definitely install. its just one less thing to do. i wouldn't mind at all.

lol i think they already tried that a couple years ago... putting something in it that the gas pump would scan or something.. kinda like those speed passes

These are things HTC needs to think of in order to make the phones better!!! But wait if they did they would charge for all the extras

For me, that doesn't close the sms/mms app. it just minimizes it. and besides its the closing action that should close it. My roommates rant does this.

If we wanted to get picky, some flip phones send the text when you close the phone and think some slide outs (Rumor, Rant, ETC) and that would be cool. But still down for the idea of closing when close keyboard. I know with these phones battery power is an issue, if you were to minimize the sms/mms app it will drain SOME power.

Exactly, I want it to kill the app. I'm going to look into mortscript over the weekend.

As I said before, I'm using a titan and I would also like a script or something to make HTC Home go to back to the homescreen. Like lets say I go to the programs tab and launch Google maps, right now when i close GM i will still see the programs tab. I'd like it to automatically revert to the homescreen so when i close said program I see the time text msgs ect ect... but that's besides the point

Just do what I'm gonna do... Read as much as possible. lol. the more things I do successfully to my titan, the more confident I get that I can get something accomplish just by reading stuff here and over at XDA

ok, well, here's a rough draft, but it's definitely proof of concept.

for now I have it set to check for tmail.exe every 60sec.
If it finds tmail running it will check the orientation every 5 sec (what the quickest you can actually type a response with the keyboard including waiting for the display to respond for a quick spell check before hitting send)
It will only kill tmail.exe if phone goes from landscape to portrait
If the battery goes below 10% it will exit.

feel free to tweak for better performance

it occured to me that if tmail.exe is killed before it can write to it's db you may lose txt's &or emails
also I'm not sure what effect this will have if an email send/recive is processing

you rock shaggy. is there a way to just set an on kb event kind of like how gyrator 2 does an on stylus event so when text is open and keyboard gets closed the program starts, kills the text, and closes?

that would be ideal, however it would probably require a modified dll of some sort. I am reminded of nueWifiSwitch.
also I am NOT a programmer, so there might be a way with .NET

this reminds of the keyboard hook that A_C uses in s2u2 i wonder if we ould find out what that is so we could use it for this app.

Im not a programer or even have a clue how to come up with something like this but would there be a way to find a phone that has the capabilites and rip the program from it and tweak to fit or copy the basic structure to be capable with or phones.


Im glad I wasnt the only one that thought it would be a cool Idea. Being bored at work when you have stuff to do sometimes pays off.

That most likely won't work. If a PPC had that capability, then there would be a shot.
