Changing txt alerts

does anyone know how to change the alert sounds on the TP? I'm guessing it involves getting into the registry but i have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OOOhhh.

You don't replace them, actually. If you have the ringers you want, they need to be in .wav format. All you do is place them in the \Windows folder of your device. Then go to the sounds menu, and they will appear in the list.

Re: Changing txt alerts

okay so i put wma files in the windows/ring folder, however they are not showing up. i was able to put one in there and it was actually a mp3 file, which is listed when i go to the txt msging alerts and settings. i can choose the default rings and the mp3 file and it plays, but none of the wma files that i have added play and even show up for that matter....any ideas?

Re: Changing txt alerts

It can be in mp3 form, just put anything you want as a ringer in the application data/sounds folder and it should show up for any notification you want.

Try moving those mp3 files to:
My Device/Application Data/ Sounds

You should be able to select those files as ringers afterwards in the Notifications menu.

just put your files in the root windows folder and they will show up in all of the categories. oh and it will recognize .mp3, .wma, and .wav.

And if you want to store it on your microSD card, just put it in the root directory of the storage card and not in a folder and it should show up in the list. That's where I have mine and it shows up in the list.

bingo.

any filetype you desire.

I keep all my ringtones in the \my documents\my ringtones

and I keep my alerts in \windows

If you have phoneweaver, you may have to put your default ringtone in the \windows\rings folder.

That's not advisable. NEVER put ringtones or sounds on your SD card because it could lead to corruption of your entire card.

I use to be able to put my music in the ringtones folder on my device and it worked fine, but when I updated to windows 6.1 now when I try to put my music there I can't select it as ringtones. On top of that I have tried putting my songs under My documents then sounds, then the windows root folder, then the applications data folder then sounds and I still can't select my songs. Is it because of Windows 6.1 put a block on my songs as ringtones or what? Please help
