Streaming Media app for touch pro.
I was wondering if anyone was able to mess with some of the apps that come standard on the pro from sprint. 1 in paticular is the streaming media app. Anyone figure this out. I want to be able to stream radio stations since we do not get the fm radio. Any idea how to get this to work? Step by step instructions would be great as I am sure it will help others.

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
On the touch pro there is already an app for you tube. What I am trying to do if it can be done is stream a radio station and trying to figure out how to with the streaming media app.

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Same here. I have opened the streaming media app once, then realized I didn't have an address to enter into it and closed it ha ha. All the streaming sites I go to open in Windows Media player (well, now they open in TCPMP).... So, I don't know what good the stream app does??

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
you should be able to use orb (www.orb.com) to stream radio (xm sirius radio) and pretty much anything u have on a computer.
but a question i have is if u have a subscription to xm or sirius and u log in onto their site will u be able to listen to their radio via their site like u would be able to on a computer or do u need something to convert that stream? theres several local radio stations near me that provide live streams of the station online i would also like to know can u navigate to those sites and just listen to the stream or do u need something like orb to convert the stream? |

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Sorry, OP, looks like nobody wants to actually read and comprehend your question. Plus I honestly don't think any of us have figured out how to use that darn program. I think it's actually what's used internally for the video player that runs when you're using the HTC Album, so the fact that there's an icon for it at all may be incidental. But obviously it looks like it's there for a reason, and its name suggests a certain purpose, but I have yet to figure out how to make it do anything useful.

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
I was just wondering this today. Maybe we can google rstp addresses, put them in there and see what happens.
I can't imagine it would do anything that WMP/TCPMP/Youtube app/Orb cannot do. |

The streaming media app is meant for the mobile version of Youtube (m.youtube.com, which uses h.264 and rtsp, rather than straight Flash), and that's that. if you need an app that streams mp3/asf/mms/aac/pls/wma and other audio streaming protocols then you have to look elsewhere to CorePlayer, Pocket Tunes (pTunes), GSPlayer (free), Win Media Player and so forth. Of all i've mentioned, CorePlayer is my recommended favourite. |
Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Any new updates with this?
Im ready to delete it because its like having a bricked phone. |
Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
The C-ApSRO app works great for XM, I have XM in the vehicle and have logged in and the audio is in time and conjunction with the unit feed. I can also say that MARC GUNN's website which as a podcast of celtic music plays when I bring up his page and select the streaming feed..

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
The Sprint Touch Pro User Guide says that you should be able to click on RTSP links and it should launch Streaming Media Player. (like from m.youtube.com)
When I click on such links in Opera Mobile 9.5 or IE Mobile, nothing happens. I can copy the URL, open the Streaming Media Player manually, paste the URL, and then it will play just fine. Does anyone know why my browsers don't call up Streaming Media Player like it should, and what I can do to correct this? Thanks! |
Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Solved my own question.
For some reason RTSP links were not set to be handled by Streaming Player. For some reason ObigoSvc.exe was set instead of the proper player. Used Regedit, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, rtsp, Shell, Open, Command, Default, Changed String to "\Windows\StreamingPlayer.exe" %1 Works now. |
Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Is there anyway to get the Streaming Media Player to show videos zoomed in or in full screen by default?

Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Looks like rtsp:// is used by Youtube etc
( m.youtube.com, zoovision.com, mobilefree.tv.com) those are the only ones i found over at XDA |
Re: Streaming Media app for touch pro.
Break.com videos come up in it.
