Backing up Contacts?

I can't seem to get my contacts backed up. I'm about to unlock and flash my TP, and want to make sure I can get my contacts back. Any help???

OK I figured it out, and backed it up, now what? If I unlock it, won't it disappear? Do I have to pull it off the phone now or something?

if you saved the pim file to storage card, your good. you can also backup contacs on pc for more safety.
