Yes, he did say they were looking at that size in particular. They usually make an OEM extended in that range. Seidio and Mugen generally one-up them with something more extreme.

Also I was under the impression from this thread that the CDMA Touch Pro has the heat plate, so that shouldn't be an issue for us like it was for the Diamond.

yeah, im pretty sure that critical said there was a heat plate in these phones. i know i dont have any heating issues on mine so far.
