Well you shouldn't have to leave it on, with the screen lit up either.

A frozen phone can mean life-or-death, for some people.

Imagine if your phone froze in the middle of the night, and it was a call to tell you your father was dying in the hospital, but you didn't find out until the next morning, after it was too late, because your phone froze.

Unforgivable. I would sue HTC if that happened to me, and I bet I would win, with all the supporting evidence, (phone logs, posts, comments, etc.)

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

If the phone doesn't freeze by leaving it on while it's on charger, I don't have any problem with it.

Knowing this solves the problem, and decide to leave it as is (by letting it goto sleep when it's charging), taking a chance on crash, sounds like a personal problem to me.

Not saying it's a solution, but saying it would work for me as long as it does not crash by leaving it on.

I have no clue if it actually works or not but I'm giving it a try.

You have no problem with a huge defect? You have to "trick" the phone not to crash, essentially.

I guess, like mentioned earlier, to each their own, but I personally think the consumers of HTC devices let them get away with murder.

Ofcourse I don't like it, but it's windows mobile phone, and itself says alot IMO.

I'm saying if I don't miss any calls by leaving the phone on while I'm charging it, I'm fine with it.

I could be way off base but it might be a windows 6.1 problem. There are alot of treo 800 users that are having the exact same problem.

I wonder if any people have had this happen with the older touch with the 6.1 upgrade?
Interestingly-enough, the WM6.1 upgrade is what FIXED this very problem on the Vogue/Touch.

It's not Windows Mobile, afaik--It's HTC. Other devices by other manufacturers don't exibit the same problems. Treo = HTC. I haven't heard of the Omnia or X1, or Epix, or (insert all non-HTC devices here.)

Sounds like a driver problem to me.

We are saying the same darn thing too. ANY phone should be able to be left on the charger and not lock up or miss any calls. It's been that way since my very first banana/bag phone.

It's a perfectly reasonable expectation of users that if they leave their phone ON and charging it should NOT lock up at night, for any reason.

It's when you leave your phone ON and charging at night only to find when you wake up that your phone has locked up and requires a reset to wake up. THEN when it's back to normal you find that it never even CHARGED while on the charger ... and locked up.

The proposed solution to avoid having the phone lock up while charging was to turn the phone off. that's NOT a solution, but ahorrible work-around because ..... YOU MISS CALLS ! No phone wil ring if turned off.

I'm in double jeopardy here because I work on-call every 4 weeks and I also have a father who is in Hospice at the moment. I can afford to miss ZERO calls.

My solution (work-around) is to NOT charge my phone at night. I charge it while driving to.from work and if it's low I USB charge it while I'm sitting at my desk.

Can ya hear me now? Apples to Apples ... Oranges to Oranges ... We all fall down.

Oh, I think you misread the proposed solution. He said that he basically told his device to stay ON, and not "fall-asleep," after a certain timeframe, while on the charger.

Yes, this prevents the Touch Pro from crashing, but at the same time, it's unacceptable, and not all Touch Pros do this, making me think it's a hardware issue. If yours does this, return it.

Mine never crashed once, unless I was running an intensive application in the background, (a battery logger.) Otherwise, it was fine. I still had a miriad of other problems though--so I returned it, completely. I feel sorry for people who picked up the Pro, and are diappointed with it, but are STUCK in their 2-year agreements. To those who are happy, more power to you.
