Multi Line Text Messaging Input Box

This past weekend I was looking around for upgrades, hacks, software, etc. I found a post somewhere that said you could expand the text messaging input area to be larger, thus allowing you to read the whole message you are about to send. It was a registry setting / hack. But now I can't find it. I've been looking for 2 days and I'm lost. Can anyone direct me to that hack? TIA!

When I run my finger around the D pad it changes the past message font size, but not the one I am currently writing. On the current (in progress) message I can only see 1.5 lines of text in landscape and I think 1 line in portrait.

Look at the bottom of the first post in this thread. It's the third from the last hack labeled:

Are there ways to enlarge the sms typing area?

Yep, that was the one. Found it over in XDA as well. Just what I was looking for - I can now see a full 3 lines in either landscape or portrait. Could make it more but I think 3 is about right for SMS. Thank you!

Does anyone know where the "thread_sms.html" file is exactly located. I can't find it using the search on Total Commander. The search gives me no results. Apparently, I'm not searching correctly.

I use Rescoe Explorer, and I looked in the windows directory and I used the search feature for the thread_sms.html and I can't find it either. Whats the deal why can't I find such a simple file?

file is thread_sms.htm not html

Just search for 'thread' in windows folder

here file is with 4 lines. rename ext to htm

Re: Multi Line Text Messaging Input Box

Sorry for such a seemingly easy question, but I tried the search. I created a copy on my laptop with a modified thread_sms.htm to do this tweak. However, I'm unable to overwrite the existing file on the touch pro as it is "protected". I can't change the read-only setting on the original version on the pro (as viewed with windows explorer) on the laptop. Can't delete or rename the original file on the device either.

Do I need one of these editors on the handheld? I'd really prefer to just edit files on my laptop and then copy to device.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think your response was directed at me...but if it was...

I am in the right windows directory (accessing via USB on laptop), and can see the file to be updated. However, I can't change the read only properties on this file via Windows Explorer, nor can I overwrite it with a copy /edited version via notepad. This file is write protected beyond what I can alter with windows explorer. XP machine if it matters.

I've seen some references to total commander....does it have more "power" to overlay these types of protected files?

Thanks.

Re: Multi Line Text Messaging Input Box

dude; copy the file to the sd and transfer it to your pc/lappy. There; in your pc/lappy you make the changes via note pad* copy back to sd & then overwrite the file in windows with Resco or else* resco is da man
