Accelerometer not working with phone calls?

I can no longer get my Sprint TP to silence an incoming phone call or mute a phone call by placing it face down. I know that this function worked fine about a week ago but no matter what I do, can't get it to work at all (haven't installed any new programs since then either). The accelerometer does seem to be working fine though within Opera Mobile as it has no issues switching between portrait and landscape modes. I have tried recalibrating with the G-sensor app but still no luck. Anyone else experiencing this and/or have a solution other than a hard reset?

Try a soft reset than redo the g sensor and see if that will fix it.

Re: Accelerometer not working with phone calls?

I;ve also heard there is a way to make it auto answer a call when you hold it up to your ear. Not sure how to do this though....might be possible with a program like Gyrator 2. i'd definitley be interested in that.

the g-sensor is not suppose to work on the phone only opera, aulbums, camera, teeter, youtube and excel. but if u do want to get it to work on the phone u would have to get graytor 2 http://gyrator.brins0.net/

i have it and its good....

Re: Accelerometer not working with phone calls?

Mine is not working either...I also remember putting the phone face down once and it worked but every since then it has not worked...Someone told me that its not the accelerometer that its the light sensor..I have nothing blocking the light sensor either...So I have no idea what can be the problem..

Re: Accelerometer not working with phone calls?

Open your registry editor and navigate to:

\HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCSensor\GSensor

Change the PhonecallMute DWORD from 0 to 1.

Also, go to \HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE

Make sure the FaceDownMuteRing DWORD is set to 1

That will turn it back on. I love this feature too.

It IS suppossed to work with the phone out of box, in that if the phone rings, and you turn it face side down (screen facing surface)....it should mute the ringer.

Yeah, but I think they default the registry setting (see my post above yours) to 0. I'm not sure why they do that.

I've searched, but found nothing. Doing reg edits isn't as scary as you think, besides, you're just changing a 0 to a 1. :) (0 is false, 1 is true)

Look up PHM Reg Edit on google. It's free and works very well.

Did you not see my post? There's no need for Gyrator for this, lol.

if ur afraid to mess up your registry you should back it up first then if something bad happens u can restore or do a hard reset.

You got it to work by using the RegEdit correct?

Agreed...Gyrator is great just to have anyway.

I never had to do any regedit for this at all. It just works for me out of the box, wth the Stock Sprint Rom.

I'll try to set your mind at ease, here:

Much of the registry in Windows operating systems (including Windows Mobile) is just settings for programs and hardware. Think of it as just editing an ini file. It's not going to harm your PPC in any way. I wouldn't go crazy and start editing classes in the registry or anything, but settings like this won't do anything to harm your phone. It's just software, and software is able to be backed up and/or restored.

Weird, mine didn't. Maybe there's a setting that automatically disables it or something.

Install, then go to the keys I specified and change the values.

You can back up your registry first if you'd like.

Man, I hate the lock code! My company tried to enforce this Exchange policy. No way I was going to let that fly.

I actually love it bc my phone locks after like 30-40 sec and i dont have to worry about anyone getting in it and reading my messages or seeing my pics

I can see how you would like that. I would rather that happen on-demand, rather than every time I turn off my display. I probably turn my phone on 100 times a day.

I don't have a registry entry for "Also, go to \HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE

Make sure the FaceDownMuteRing DWORD is set to 1"

I have Sprint if that makes a difference

Any thoughts?
