Upgraded Opera now have two icons in 'Launch Program', Help

So both icons open the exact same build to Opera mobile but I cannot remove one of the icons. I upgraded Opera to a newer build and this happened. Anyone have any ideas on how to delete it. When I go to the program section of my file explorer it doesnt have two Opera programs, so I just need to delete one of the shortcuts.

Is it Opera or Opera Mini? If its Opera, I do not know how.. If its Opera Mini, Go to Java and just click and hold the shortcut until it pops a notification... Then click delete, and problem should be solved.

It is Opera mobile. This is on the TP. They both show up but open the same program. This is not mini.

Go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and remove one .lnk file

Let me know if it doesn't work.

I think somewhere i read that you cant upgrade the Opera that came on the phone bc its built into the ROM. Im not exactly sure but I think they said you have to close all of Operas running processes with a program like SKTools before you install the new one and I wasnt sure if that even worked.

This is were it gets tricky. In the file tree it only shows one ink. file for Opera. There is only a double when you go to the Launch Programs section of TF3D. Thats what I dont get.

Do what (kitts) said, exept you say there is just one, so copy that one and put it in my documents for safe keeping. Then go back to windows start menu programs and delete it. Hope that Helps.

Thanks T M Z

Yeah, In the stock TP, there is no shortcut for Opera in Start Menu\Programs. The TF3D reads the windows\start menu\programs to populate the list of available programs in addition to the ones defined in the TF3d config file.

Yes. The globe will launch updated version of Opera.

I just upgraded Opera on my Touch Pro and it overwrote the stock one.
I used SKTools's task manager (Processes) and stopped Opera9.exe and OperaPreL.exe and then i installed the latest version of Opera and it installed perfect but it did say it couldnt delete the stock Opera. And in my programs list there was only 1 Opera (which was the upgraded one) and on TF3d the Opera icon there was the upgraded Opera

how did you upgrade? that is, i see that you normally have to pay for opera mobile. it seems that 9.5 is a beta, but i'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's "free" with the touch pro. Is this some special version specifically for the TP? that is, if i upgrade, will it start asking me for money?

lol no it wont ask you for money. search here or xda's forums for Opera and you should find the newest version for our phones

The issue with two icons in program files under Manila's All Programs listing is that when you upgrade Opera it puts a link under windows/start menu/programs. With the initial installation, there is also a link for Opera under windows/start menu. When Manila builds the All Programs list, it uses both directories; thus showing two links, because there are indeed two. Just delete one of them as they are identical and are only link/shortcut files.

if i'm not mistaken, these are just updates that people are stripping from other builds, these aren't exactly official updates?? Is this the truth or not? I did update to 2649 and that installs over the stock opera and there is only 1 program icon.

edit: also I beleive 2649 actually looks better on the pro then 2745

What is the value or benefit of upgrading? My Sprint TP has build 2316 in it. What should I upgrade to and what do I gain?

Thanks in advance,
tsp
