JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
Can someone help. I have tried to search these threads, but I keep getting an error that I need to have meet at least 4 word minimum for search while I am using way more than four words.
Any Case: My Sprint Touch Pro does not have the Esmeric Jbed that my Mogul had, instead I have a Big Yellow "T" for TITAN. When I click it, Opera Mobile Opens and takes me to A Sprint Developer Website and discusses Sprint's New Next Generation JAVA, with a link to downloads a beta that expired on 10/30/2008. Touch Pro did not even go on sales until 11/2/08. Can some one shed any insight if there is link to a newer build? Has anyone tested and compared to Esmeric Jbed? How is Opera Mini/Gmail/Google maps. Also with Opera Mobile and Windows versions of Google Maps and POP3 Gmail in Outlook is there still a need for JAVA on the TP anyway? |

Try using words with four or more "letters".. I will most likely be using what's in the ppckitchen once I get it all downloaded. -CC |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
sooooo, what do you need now?

Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
Any info on JAVA for Touch Pro?
Is there VGA cab for Esmeric Jbed that ATT Fuze has but not on Sprint. Has Anyone Used the Sprint Titan JAVA? And why doesn't search accept any of my requests: "Sprint Touch Pro JAVA Client' "Sprint Titan JAVA Touch Pro" "Sprint HTC Touch Pro Landscape" "Sprint Navigation Landscape Touch Pro" |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
add asterisks after words smaller than 4 letters EG: VGA* or TP**
|
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
Or just use the Google search feature instead of the integrated one. Quite frankly, vBulletin/phpbb/etc searches all suck, google much better.

Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
OK,
Other than commenting on how to try and search, does any one have an answer that they can post? Also Suggestion to Moderators/Editor. Can we create more sub categories under the Device:It will make finding topic alot easier? Pocket PC Phone>HTC Touch Pro>Sprint Pocket PC Phone>HTC Touch Pro>ATT and then SubCat for Applications: 1) Browsers 2) GPS Navigation 3) Media Players 4) Utilities |

For the diamond, touch pro, or anything with a vga screen you only need to install Java_JBed_VGA.CAB and it works well so far might i add |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
The page for the Titan now says it is available until January 2009.

Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
I'd rather have something that'll last forever and not temporarily with the Titan, those guys need to chop shop and hurry it up. But yeah, whoever posted that link with the VGA cab, that's the best solution I've seen thus far, tried recommending it to the essentials thread but they don't seem to think it's a big deal.
EDIT: Just rechecked the thread, my mistake, it was added, nice. |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
No problem on the link. It's nice somebody put it in the essentials thread. It's a big deal, IMO.

How does this VGA cab works? What does it do? Sorry, I am a newb to this and trying to learn. What additional features does Java give you, or specifically this java? |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
I also need a VGA JBed for my Touch Pro.
The link posted in this forum ( http://www.powerpda.info/?category=w...d_mod__vga_mod ) doesn't seem to be working for me. Can anyone post a link to download the necessary CAB/Zip on this thread? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks |

I'll see which build of java I have that was most recent (keep in mind it's *not* a VGA version, and text will be quite small), and try to post i here. |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
Thanks for the quick response. I been looking for the permission fix for some time now... Only need JAVA, preferably the Sprint JAVA for non-VGA devices. If you have a sprint java.cab or know where to find one, that would be great. If not, and if I'm reading your post correctly; you have a registry edit that will remove the permission. If you have a free minute, please detail.

Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
Where do we download the latest Java runtime from? (that works on Sprint Touch pro)
(so that Java applets in websites will work) |

Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
But what about things like KVM, Java ME...Jbed....and also maybe Java games support for Pocket PC?
At the Java site, it says Java for mobile may be integrated with the device if the manufacturer does that. Does the TP come with Java installed? If there is Java support on the device, (and/or if Java games work), then having Java work from browsers and websites should be possible, right? Pardon me I am a total noob here on this. |
Re: JAVA Client for Sprint Touch Pro
You can use jave (esemtric/jbed) on the pro, however (and this applies to all applications I'm sure, I've only used gmail and opera mini), but the text will be pretty small. You can make it bigger in gmail and in opera mini (not sure what other apps you'd be using, so I can't say).
The latest build of java the 20080912.5.1 version, doesn't seem to allow you to edit the selector.utf file which handles the "do you wish to allow this application to connect" type messages, because the applications are not signed. Opera mini has a version which is signed, which will connect just fine, however, gmail does not (I only mention these two, as I said, they're the only two I use/have used). You can try this version of java (its already bundled with opera mini and gmail), and its *not* the vga version (for the touch pro/diamond) so text will be smaller. Here's a link to what I was using before I installed the newer 20080912 version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399897 |
