wifi doesnt work.

edited-
my wireless doesn't work at all. this is a brand new out of the box phone with nothing on it. wifi is turned on. when i try to connect to several free wifi areas it will say connecting and then quickly switches to unavailable.
i am going out of the country and i still want the wifi to work since the sprint network won't be available.
i am trying to test the phone but it keeps using the sprint network to browse, how can i tell it to use the wifi?

edit- looks like it's staying connected now, but ipchicken still shows sprint's IP, so it's not using the wifi to browse still...

NEVERMIND, IT'S WORKING! had to use internet explorer, not opera. :)

Re: wifi w/o activation? will it work?

Yes you can. Try running Internet Explorer and see if it works.

Re: wifi w/o activation? will it work?

i see what the problem is, it recognizes my wifi and tries to connect, then says unavail. i'll have to fix that first. i was scared for a second that the phone wouldn't be able to function at all w/o cell service. good to know it can. thanks

Re: wifi w/o activation? will it work?

Mine worked in the few hours before it got activated... but I had some issues. Whenever it would go into standby, I would have to close Opera and restart it in order to get it to load pages again. It was just an inconvenience and went away after my data connection got activated.
