Where are new programs installed on Touch Pro
 

I promise I've searched the forum and couldn't find this answer. I'm getting my TP today and have bought an 8gb card. When I install new programs like Sling Media or ewallet, can I install those on the card or do they have to go on the phone's memory? Also, any other advice about installing programs etc would be much appreciated. I'm very excited to start playing with the TP!

I'm guessing the TP will be the same as other WM 6.1 phones (mine will be here today) and when you install an app it asks if you would like to install to main memory or the card. I install all my apps to memory and use the card for data storage, music, pictures, maps, etc.

While others may disagree, I *strongly* recommend installing to main memory ONLY.

Why? Simple...

1. Some programs are not compatible with running from the storage card, so why bother trying.

2. Better performance... it's just plain faster than running from SD card.

3. Better battery life... if your SD card has to be accessed frequently, it will drain your battery quicker.


That said, it's perfectly fine to store data and such on the SD card. That's what it's there for.
