Ya I was thinking of doing the same. Instead of going through the hassle. Just hope if I go that direction I don't get a refurb. Is it $100 yet or still $50?

$50..................$100, if it does apply to the Pro, won't take effect until April.

Exactly. And that's if you are going to lose your phone anytime, it better be before April so you don't have to dish out an extra $50

I guess im going to have 2 touch pros. Not a bad deal I guess. I'll find some use for it. I could use a 2nd battery extra charger, etc... Time to call Asurion. But still rather get the exchange without the trouble. Does sprint take notes that I brought my phone in? Was kind of thinking of going to another sprint store tomorrow.

If you file a claim, you have to send the old one back in the pre-paid envelope.

they sent me a refurb'd one, 11/8/08 mfr date.......my previous one was 11/3/08, I'm guessing this will have a chrome-chipping problem too.

Not if you lose it.

Just never say you got it stolen if you are trying to commit insurance fraud, because then you have to file a police report.

In addition to the obvious ethical issue that doesn't seem to bother some people, here's a more practical one. My understanding is that if you report the phone as lost or stolen, it gets flagged in the system and can't be activated. So if that's correct, yes, you can keep your phone this way, but it'd be useless to you or anyone you'd sell it to.

Ethics aside, you could always put the phone into flight mode permanently and use it for its other 4.54x10^87 capabilities
