Battery died while charging
 

I know some people have had battery drain issues when charging and talking on the phone at the same time.

But, last night my phone was down to about 5% left, so I plugged it in, turned it off and went to bed.
Then at 3:15am I awake to the WM 6.1 boot-up sound. I thought it was odd so I looked over to see if any update had installed and forced a reboot or something.

What I saw was the battery was at 0% and charging. The phone was cold to the touch, with the house was set at 65 degrees. If it had been warm, I would have thought the battery overheated and stopped the charge, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

After the reboot it started charging right away without me doing anything.

Anyone else see something like this happen?

Odd I woke up this morning after leaving the phone on the charger all night to a 20% charge. Hoping it was just a one time thing.

I had that issue the other night. Phone didn't reboot or anything, but I took it off charge and an hour later got a battery low warning. It hasn't happened again though, knock on wood. Same with the lockup while charging, happened once and didn't come back.

I had this happen last night as well. Battery was down to 10% and I put it on the charger around 7PM. I took it off this morning at 7:30am and it showed 1%. The wierd part is that yesterday is the first day it made it through the day without dying. 7:30am-7pm without any charges during the day and several phone calls. This battery issue is very frustrating.

I have to admit, other than this I am not all that displeased with the battery life. It's not fantastic, but I was coming from the 6700 and would have to charge it in the afternoon. Under similar usage on the Pro I don't charge it until the after 7pm or later in most cases.

The batteries are both rated the same mAh, but I guess the 2 1/2 year old 6700 has just lost some of it's capacity over it's life.

I am beginning to think that there may be an issue with the batteries themselves and not the phone... just a funny feeling is all...

I read in the mobile help manual>battery section that the battery is designed to shut off and stop charging if it gets too hot. I think I might return my phone soon if this keeps happening, if I can't use use a $600 "pocket pc" as a basic phone even then it's of little use to me since I do talk on the phone a lot apart from messing with the other phone functions. This is quite a shame. I'm sure you can do better than this HTC.

yes theres a heat sensor that shuts down charging. if you wanna use internet while charging, just use hard kb to relese the heat. works for me.

What do you mean hard kb? I'm sorry I haven't heard of this before I'm a newbie. Also, does hard kb work if I wanna charge the phone while I'm speaking on it? That's more important to me right now than using the internet...

He means the physical keyboard. Slide it open to separate the two halves, helping improve airflow.
