4th HTC device on sprint and same problem since the 1st one..WTF
 

So I have had every HTC phone sprint has had so far and all of them wake up for no reason ramdomly. I would think they would fix this problem in the PRO. I just got the pro today and it ramdomly wakes up evrey 15-20 minutes. Why cant the idiots at HTC/Sprint figure out what is causing this? Also, the service is lot better on treo 800w then this one. My 800w always stayed EV at my house and i have noticed the pro switched to 1x several times since i got it today afternoon. :protest:

mine never wakes up. i wouldnt say its an htc problem. more phones dont than do wake up like yours. could be be a hardware problem on your phone for both problems. still an htc problem but not all htc phones.

I have had every WM phone sprint has ever had and only HTC devices do this.

What kind of reception do you have when this happens? When I go to visit my parents in the burbs I have close to NO reception at all and the phone does this...

My Pro gets 2 bars where my Mogul used to get 4. The turning on and off might be switching from Roaming to Sprint network or losing reception it might also be because of a program updating something like the built in Weather, RSS Feeds. If all of your 4 of your HTC phones have been doing this you might want to see if you have a program that you have always istalled on all 4 of them that might be making it turn on.

then get the 800 that works for uou. why keep getting junk htc phones? you know the fix, go fix it.

You are speaking in absolutes and since you are the only one who has identified the problem it appears that the problem is related to something that is specific that you have done, could be where you live or some setting you have enabled on your phone.
I know this particular phone will wake when the keyboard is slid open. I found this very annoying as the phone would keep waking in my pocket while I was walking. Once I disabled the wake on keyboard slide it stopped.

I've had 6800, 6900, and now the pro. Never had it happen.

Me... the 6600, 6601, 6700...skipped out on the 6800 and with the Treo 700 and now the Pro.. not an issue unless switching in and out or Roam.

I have had the same issue on several different HTC phonnes as well. I just thought it was typical. It's definately something to do with switching between EVDO and 1x or possibly roaming.

My Mogul will go from 3 bars EVDO to 1x just sitting in the same spot. I haven't looked at the signal meter to see exactly what's going on, but this will be my 3rd Mogul and also had 3 6700's that did the same thing.

Time synch and weather updates are turned off and I have activesync disabled. Obviously, the battery drains much faster when the phones switching between modes so much. Nothing like being woke up from your phone's backlight turning on and off while charging.

Maybe it's one of the apps, but it's been so long since I have had a stock rom, not sure if it switched back and forth while it was stock or not.

my touch pro does this too, and my mogul used to do it also, so you're not alone. i'm just used to it now, it's just irritating when it happens in your pocket and things get pressed on the touchscreen by accident. but i've come to expect it so whatever.

I too have experienced this issue with my TP. I definitely lean toward fringe signal causing this. I have they same problem with my mogul but, the issue is not very consistent on either device. I have very poor signal at my home so, my phones switch in & out of EV,1X, and NO SIGNAL often. I have the AIRAVE now and notice, when this issue happens, that the phones are pulling signal from the weak towers and not the AIRAVE. Bottom line: Sometime it happens sometime it doesn't.

the only time I have witnessed the touch pro waking up on its own it went back to sleep about 2 seconds later... the mogul used to do it to me all the time...

I've had this exact problem as well. All my WM sprint phones have done this, and the Touch Pro is doing it too (although I've noticed its doing it less then my mogul).

The interesting thing is that while this happens all the time at home, it doesnt happent at work or other locations. I've come to the conclusions that it has something to do with my location or local topology of my apartment.

Perhaps my apartment is in the overlap area between two different cell towers and it keep switching between them?

it is your connection, not the phone. it switches in and out of roaming and you have very little to no reception, which causes it to wake up. my phone don't wake up at home, which has great reception but it does when i am at work, with little to no reception.

Also, if you have any apps changing the registrery to make it "Wakeup to full power" then it will do this.

Pyroz is correct. When the phone switches to 1x, Ev or into roaming the phone will wake up to let you know that you switched frequance bands. I actually like that feature cause it lets me know when I'm in crappy coverage, also helps while I'm working.

When did you first purchase the Trea 800w? The Touch Pro just released, the drivers are not as mature on the just released Touch Pro as they may have been for some of your other phones. Different hardware means different drivers and possible tweaks to the drivers over time.

Seriously....4 Touch Pro's? Did you ever think that it's by design? Or that after the second and thrid problem, the issues you are having won't go away yet?

I have this happen sometimes and I have had the diamond and now the pro. Sometimes out of nowhere it will wake up as if I'm about to get a message or something. But nothing happens. Figured I'd live with it not a big deal to me.

Guess I have been lucky as well, had the Mogul, Touch, skipped the Diamond and now have the Pro and I have never had this problem. I swapped exchanged models several times due to other problems and still never had this with the replacements either.

i have my touch pro and its the best phone that i have jet, the only problems that i haver its the batery and the Rev A becouse we dont have that service in PR !! comming soon !!!

I've had the 6600, Apache, Mogul, and now Touch Pro. I've noticed this problem with them as well. I always just assumed the phone was doing it when it was getting messages from my Exchange e-mail server. Usually not a big deal, just put on the keylock and nothing gets pressed.
