I use ppcpimbackup to backup my contacts onto my memory card. It works great. Try it out.

Will this backup your people tab or is there a way to back that up?

I use SBP Backup and it works great. There is even an interface (without using Activesync) to back everything up to your PC. You can also do local backups to a storage card, of your ROM (have not tried yet) contacts, PIM data, files.. just about anything on the phone.

Another good program is Sprite Backup, but I prefer SBP myself.

A nice free way to do it is with CeRegEditor - LINK

Requires a PC, but works very well. Also lets you do compares against previous backups which is nice if you are trying to make an OEM package or just see what a program you just installed actually did to the registry.

I love spb backup, but you need to pay for it.

True but if you have it now, you can upgrade to v 2.0.1 for $9.

ppcpimbackup backs up everything on a schedule and it's free. When I got my touch pro it transfered everything from my mogul with no errors. Thats call logs, texts, address book. It's also free is you don't want to pay.

anyone ever figure a way out to backup the people tab without takign the whole pim.vol and then having the problem of making duplicate contacts with active sync.
