Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
That is, if I turn off DATA services, and have WiFi on, and plug my Pro into my 360 via USB, will it function as a WiFi receiver (I have a router), and will it not cost anything, since I am using WiFi, not Sprint's network?

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
No. Your 360 has no clue how to communicate with your Touch Pro beyond in USB Mass Storage mode as a flash drive.

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
I wonder why people wonder this? It's suck a dumb question, why would microsoft let you get away with not buying their 99 dollar RIP off adaptor that has the chipset of a 10 dollar G adapter for a computer

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
its not a dumb question, i was actually thinking about the interaction of my system and pondering the capabilities myself the other day, but now we know

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
lol, talk about fanboy garbage. Xbox 360 doesn't have WiFi built in, and also costs $100 less than a comparable PS3. Hmmm... what a coincidence. Sorry guys, I bought my system for the games, not the Blu-Ray, so considering the selection, I'm a lot happier with my 360 than I would be a PS3. To each their own, but just think for a second about why things cost what they do, and why people would have reasons to buy the systems they did before trashing the competition blindly. I love my 360, and wouldn't consider trading it for a PS3 for anything. Also love my Wii.

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
PS3...pff...that thing stinks. I don't think this is a stupid question at all and it deserves some attention.
The 360 can't run internet through USB, only through the internet. There are multiple ways to get around it, however. For one, there are some generic ethernet Wifi connectors that will work for the 360; I know they sell a few at Best Buy. Once you find a compatible one, you can find it cheap online. Second, and my personal favorite, is running your 360 through your laptop's wireless connection. I've been doing this flawlessly for around 2 years now and I've had no problems; all you have to do is bridge the connection from your wireless to your ethernet port, and run a cable to the 360. Now HERE is where the phone comes in. I haven't tried it myself, but theoretically if you use the phone as a modem, you MIGHT be able to bridge the connection to your 360. To make a completely portable gaming system, look up the Adaptec gambridge, which will allow you the plug your 360 into any computer (laptops included) and play through the screen via an accompanied program. It works really well, too, even through standard USB as mine does. If you can't bridge the connection, you could always set up your phone to "send out" it's internet, acting as a quasi-wireless router, and pick it up that way. Hook the phone to your PC to charge and VOILA! You have internet gaming! |

i have done a variant on this idea, i have the 360 wireless adapter and i will connect my TP to the laptop, bridge the TP with my wireless network connection and create an adhoc network. connect the xbox through the the wireless adapter, and again VOILA! it works well. |
Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
Meh, My wii sits on a table getting dusty. No good games for it. My 360 and PS3 sit too. But my ps3 and 360 sometimes get played when a new title comes out thats good. Otherwise i just play My pc. PC ftw!

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
People sure seem to have lost track pretty darn fast of what the OP asked for, which was to be able to use the Touch Pro as a WiFi adapter without using his internet connection. His question's been answered, it's not possible.

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
Since we're on subject about consoles, I have the Wii, 360, PS3 (40GB), DS, and PSP...
Honestly, out of all of them, the coolest system is the PS3 (and I used to be a huge 360 fanboy). You just can't beat it. It looks great, comes with WiFi, internet gaming is free (sucks HARD in comparison to XBOX Live though), plays my Blu Rays, upverts DVD's nicely, is a great media device, and I can wirelessly connect my PSP to it. It's just simply unbeatable. That being said, most of my games I own are for the XBox 360. XBox live is fantastic, and they just have great titles that Sony doesn't have (Fable, GoW, Forza), and some games are documented to work better with it (hardware, i.e. Guitar Hero games). And of course, the Wii is a budget monster. Internal WiFi, ultimate possibilities, and tons of fun for $250. But damn the graphics suck. lol |
Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
Ive had them all except PSP. End result us sold DS, Sold Wii, PS3 gathering dust playing BluRay only. 360 used mainly for watching Divx and Netflix, and occasionally getting only in Halo. IMO 360 is the best console by far, and PS3 is rather boring due to its lackluster content and online gaming.

To my knowledge you cannot use the phone directly with the XBOX. Unless of course you have a wifi adapter and the xbox supports Ad-HOC. This is the problem with trying to use it on PS3 and PSP. Both of those devices only support internet connections in Infrastructure mode. |
Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
your phone connects on 802.11b which is 11 mbps. and your phone can't even operate that fast online. even if you could hook it up you would probably have great lag and it probably would have a hard time staying on the servers. microsoft will make you buy their adapter for their product. so i dont deal with them. PS3 and linux. so much easier

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
In theory if you have good signal strength the phone would be more then enough to play online games with.

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
I think it's funny that people complain about the Wii not having an Ethernet port, while at the same time people complain about the 360 not having the Wifi...
PS3, of course, gets no such complaints... |

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
Probably the only reason I have a 360 is because I won it in a contest/sweepstakes. I'm too poor to afford a PS3 and at this point there are only a handful of games that look spectacular, but not enough for me to drop 400+$ on a console.

Re: Can I use my Pro as a WiFi receiver for my 360?
reciever? or do you have the adapter to run the xbox wirelessly ? If you do then get windows mobile wifi router. it will broadcast evdo service through the wifi out instead of in .
