Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
TF3D is really, really nice. It's also incredibly inflexible. I've used it for a week but now I'm ready to set up my device to do what I need it to do. However, I'd like to keep the touch-navigation rather than go back to stylus-only navigation. What I'd like is to have tabs at the bottom of the screen, with a floating panel for each that is minimized until I need it, in order to keep the rest of the screen visible for tasks/appointments/notes.
I tried UltimateLaunch and was overwhelmed by the options. I tried Touch Commander and it seemed sluggish and non-intuitive. I tried iLauncher and liked it, although there was no option to put the tabs on the bottom of the screen. I added Spacer to it with the fixed position option, and that works fine until my task list grows long enough, then it pushes the tabs off the bottom with a vertical scroll bar, and also garbles the tabs as the plugin above contacts it. Ideally, I would have wanted it to keep the tabs flush at the bottom and the vertical scroll only to the tasks/appts, but I understand that iLauncher can't tell other plugins what to do. Is there anything out there that can achieve this? I'd be willing to learn UltimateLaunch if that's what it takes... but can UltimateLaunch even do this? Or is it just not possible to have a plugin fixed at the bottom with any required vertical scrollbars stopping at the top of that plugin? And in case anybody is wondering, I don't want the tabs at the top because it will interfere with my pretty wallpaper. Any advice is appreciated. |

Take the time to learn the ins/outs of UL.
That is an absolutely amazing program although the setup is not intuitive at all........ ~John |

That's correct... I already looked into HTC Home + Customizer.

Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
Maybe there's a VGA version of teh HTC Cube you can install somewhere? Also I would recommend Ftouchsl (www.ftouchsl.com) for touchflo/activecorners/gestures . I'm also not crazy about the manial3d deal, it seems slowish. I think a VGA HTC Home + FtouchSL would be simple and perfect, IMO.

I personally have not used it, but ThrottleLauncher might be a good alternative: http://www.throttlelauncher.com/port...leases/84-094k

Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
what about Mobile Shell? set it as one of the soft keys and you have your finger friendly menus at the touch of a button...
|
Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
i have mobile shell installed and i have the now menu button as a quick-launch program.
i go back and forth between touchflo and mobile shell. touch flo is very pretty, but mobile shell is simple and flexible |
Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D

Just the fact that you can't use Home plug-ins like the awesome weather panel shows just how limiting TF really is. ~John |
Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
I used SPB Mobile Shell on my htc touch - loved it..
Might actually go back to it on my touch pro.. -mark |
Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
I use phonealarm and I think the one man developer for it is genius. He's had many years under his belt now developing this piece of art and it's fully customizable and allows for adding custom apps and links to certain functions for calendar, alarms, etc. It's also skinnable and many skins are available for it www.pocketmax.net

Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
I would have to say learn UltimateLaunch as well. Its very flexible and sounds like it can do what u want. There is also a thread for HTC Home but the customixer DOES NOT work. The default setup matches the pro icons already and the retro digital looks cool on these new tech screens so it should last until EMU or somebody brings the customizer up to VGA and resizes the icons

Theres a thread on this is the diamond forums I think...basically they were saying you could run both. You use second today screen and then have the cube set to load when you swipe as the second today screen. I dont know how successful they got with it, but its worth a look, if you want the cube. I personally loathed the cube :) |
Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
iLauncher + PocketBreeze + PocketWeather + Spacer looks pretty interesting.

Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
my only problem with mobile shell was that I cant customize any pictures.. I can change the color of the interface.. but I cant do any picturs or backgrounds or anything like that... its an awsome aplication for what it does.. its simple.. yet effictive.. and from what I have seen in my use.. no frills.... unless I missed those in the fine print. personally.. I love the touch flow interface.. I just wish it was..... better.. and I could customize it a bit more.. but.. that will come with time.. im sure this phone hasnt been out that long..

Re: Touch-friendly alternative to TF3D
After running the trial of iLauncher + Pocket Breeze + Pocket Weather, I'm sold. They integrate very well. Spacer isn't even required... it automatically adjusted the sizes and docked iLauncher tabs at the bottom. Lots of options, very customizable. I've already forgotten what TF3D looks like. It's dead to me.
