Im man enough to admit I was wrong

I got the TP the first weekend it came out in Best Buy, and I returned it a few days later because I didnt really enjoy it like i thought i would and got a Curve. I am man enough to say i was wrong and now am the happy owner of the TP again. Yes it has its issues but i can admit I did not give it enough time at first, after some tweaking and getting used to the keyboard im rather enjoying it now. Now I loved the Curve, form factor, the stability, the exposed keyboard were all great but I couldnt justify Sprints Blackberry service of $30 a month when i get powervision for free with SERO. So let me have it, tell me "i told you so" im ready lol

I TOLD YOU S..... you know what, you live you learn.

After using this phone i dont think its possible for me to use another. Even with the battery life complaints, id take this over anything else AVAILABLE to me...

*i swear, if anyone releases a touch pro hd with qwerty slide out and a profile ~ size as the touch pro, its time for me to jump ship

I am there with you. I get to play with all of the new cell devices. The TP is the best yet - great keyboard, super memory, love the SD and terrific display. I've even grown to like the case.

Only down side is the heat from this baby. I could roast marshmellows on the first 2. The 3rd one - direct from Sprint - is MUCH better. If you read my earlier comment, the case got so hot it discolored.

Anyway, great device.

Its amazing how much ram makes a difference. That has been it for me. I can finally install apps and do tweaks i could never do on another Winmo device. Oh yeah and that screen cant be beat lol

It's absolutely heavier than the Diamond. And, though it may not look it, it feels A LOT bigger in the pocket than the Diamond.

I'm not completely sure I made the best decision taking back the Diamond, but I'm stuck with it now so I hope it grows on me :) (Full disclosure: not coming from the Mogul, but from the Touch).

With the battery life complaint registered here and a couple of other places, I betcha we are only a month or 2 away from some really huge OEM battery and back combo...

2500Mah anyone?

There's people on both sides of the camp and valid reasons for each. You won't know for sure until you've tried each and seen for yourself the difference. That said, I've always used WM and been happy with it, so haven't had a reason to see what else is out there. Either way, welcome to the team.

Thats just the thing, this phone has style, those battery backs are disgusting to look at. I hope they can squeeze a +1500mah into the original slot, but if not, atleast try not to make it so fugly

UPS man just dropped off my TP, and my very first impression after unboxing was "this thing is a brick!" To me, it's almost like going back to a Mogul! I still have my Diamond, so after holding each one in hand and comparing size, weight, and pocketablity, the TP is going back tomorrow! I honestly didnt realize how much I really like my Diamond until playing with the TP. I hated the red back of diamond until i seen the cheap chrome look of the TP. My diamond is like a whole new phone to me all of a sudden. :-)

Each to his own I guess...

Funny, I couldn't imagine the Touch Pro needing to be much smaller. It's already so nice and small. Certainly not worth returning over that. And I genuinely like the silver back. Doesn't feel remotely cheap, and has a great texture and contrast. Again, personal preference, though.

Have you ever played with the Diamond? If so, I dont think you would have the same impressions. In fact, I just dug out my old Mogul to compare it to the TP, and they are the same size! No wonder it felt like a brick to me! After using a Diamond for the past month, there is just no way I could go back...

Again, just IMHO. ;-)

I have mine sitting on top of my Mogul, and it is smaller. I for one like the thickness, stuff gets too thin and its easy to drop or lose.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

For my needs, the Touch Pro is leaps and bounds ahead of the Diamond. The keyboard on the Touch Pro is excellent. I go through hundreds of emails daily (obviously I don't reply to all of these, but you get the idea), so fast typing is a must for me. The Diamond wasn't all that bad, but having to go back and make corrections, etc. was getting old real fast. I'm now able to type with absolute precision. I'm also not experiencing any delay like others have commented about. I'm using the stock ROM with a few reg tweaks (based on DiamondTweak and others), and to be quite honest this is faster than my Diamond was on any Juicy ROM I've tried. I don't even see any convincing reason for me to go to a custom ROM yet, and frankly I probably won't unless there becomes one.

The Touch Pro is much easier for me to hold, and I actually love its size. It feels 'just right'. The chrome also does not look cheap, so I don't know where you got that from. In any event, the Touch Pro is -truly- only .13 inches bigger than the Diamond. Just look at Sprint's dimensions on their site. You could make the size argument for a GSM Diamond vs. a Touch Pro, but for a CDMA Diamond I'm just not seeing it.

I used to be a happy Diamond owner but now I'm glad I'm exchanging it, the Touch Pro is just that much better for my needs -- it's truly a business oriented device.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

No ones debating the physical size numbers- but what hes saying, and i agree with, is between the extra width, height, and especially weight it feels a lot bigger in the hand. It also depends what you came from, if you came from a flip or touch then itll feel big; from a mogul probably small or perfect size. Its all relative. So is speed, its close enough its negligible- more personal preferences and what you have installed, tweaked, or just in your head because next to eachother they open programs at the same time, ive tired it over and over and over.

And i have to agree the chrome is cheezy looking IMO and give it a few months and thatll be the first part to be scratched up. Chrome on phones is always the first thing to get scratched because its always done cheaply and never holds up as tough as the black shiny finish or soft touch paint would.

Im sticking with my Diamond as well just for pocketablility and feels better in my hand. I simply dont type enough to justify resigning a contract and paying $260 when i already had a Diamond and SERO out of contract, just isnt worth it in my situation to change over.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

I'm coming from a Treo 800w and the TP is the same thickness. The TP is a bit heavier though. I had a Diamond for a weekend and I couldn't deal with not having a physical keyboard and a memory slot. The Diamond and the TP are both beautiful devices and probably the best WM devices on the market. They made two styles for a reason... to satisfy the people on both sides of this discussion. I'm happy to have an HTC device mainly because of the customizability. Enjoy your phones.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

funny thing is someone at work tried to call my phone a brick and he pulled out his verizon LG phone, and I started cracking up when my TP was smaller in literally every way to measure, in someways by more than a full inch!!

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

No one is going to debate the fact that the touch pro is a little brick compared to the diamond, and if you want to please don't, the diamond is a lil sexier then the pro, what it all comes down to is if you can live with an onscreen keyboard. I need a keyboard, espescially with all the emails and texts I send. So thats going to be the real only deciding factor, and of course its going to be different for everyone.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

Played with a co-workers pro 2day and while it looked bigger than the diamond it did not feel much bigger "in hand" the keyboard slide out nice and it just seemed to go together. if you can deal with the thickness of the diamond u might wanna try the pro, coming from the touch they both remind me of my 700wx, and i personally prefer a thinner pda. watch using those sprint web sites specs as any sort of size comparison guide they dont take into account the form factor (like the curves) and i think they had the diamond listed as thinner than the touch, and owning both it does not "feel" like it.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong

i waited for the Pro, only to take it back the following day for the diamond. I used the BB coupon that expired the following day, so I had to make my decision. LOVE the diamond, the on screen keyboard works good for me because the screen is more sensitive than the original touch. The Pro felt TOO HEAVY to have it as a daily device. I could have dealt with the thickness, but not the weight. just my opinion.
