smiley sms will let you see smileys in the messages, amd smip is an onscreen kb with smileys.... there are bugs with smiley sms and i dont use it anymore maybe there is a newer version this is 1.66 it is freeware so you might find a newer one out there, and i also zipped smip (couldnt zip the cabs seperately for somereason but if you extract them they are seperate so you dont have to install both if you dont want one,) hope this helped

Re: text message emoticons?
Most of the time the receiving party won't get the emoticons unless they have the same software installed =[

Re: text message emoticons?
I have no clue as to how to download this to my TP. Can someone give me step by step instructions? Thanks a Million !

Re: text message emoticons?
use the cable or sd card or manually go online to this forum page and download it and just open it up and install both cab files.... btw i recommend vito sms chat... best program out there for txting and the new version included emoticons..

Re: text message emoticons?
thank you all, so there is no need for me to install this if the other person doesn't have the software?
any other way to do this? |
Re: text message emoticons?
If you do standard emoticons ( :) ;) :D etc, etc) then *most* phones will be able to understand it. It's when you get into some of the third party and a little more eccentric ones that they won't be able to translate and they will show up like normal text.

Re: text message emoticons?
Is there a way to add more emoticons to the ones preset in messaging on the treo 800w?
|
Re: text message emoticons?
well this is unfortunate that a bada$$ phone like the TP doesn't have this functionality. all the complexity of this phone and theres not an app that we can use. this is 1997 technology hahaha

Re: text message emoticons?
I think the emoticons that you get when you press the SYM key are just to show you what you're sending. They won't come up like that in the text messages. At least that's my experience.

Re: text message emoticons?
they will if you use smiley sms

Re: text message emoticons?
On a related question: Using the soft/on-screen keypad (phone pad/T9, for example), is there a short cut way of typing emoticons rather than hitting symbo, choosing ":", then symbol again, ")"?
Thanks. |
Re: text message emoticons?
