I bought at Best Buy, can I exchange with local Sprint Store?

Due to call quality issues, I am thinking about trying another Touch Pro, but the Best Buy has none.

Will a Sprint Store exchange the phone for me?

Thanks.

50/50 chance. I picked up a Treo 800w from a "Sprint Premier Reseller" for my g/f and she was having issues with the keyboard and incoming calls. She was within 30 days, so we went into Sprint and they weren't able to give her one of the spot because it wasn't purchased directly from a Sprint store. They had to order one and we had to wait 3 days for it to come into the Sprint store.

It kind of P'd me off because the guy ordered a brand new one (not refurbished -- confirmed before we walked out the store) even though they had it in stock.

BB may order/setup straight through the Sprint system and not a third party system like the Reseller, so you may get one on the spot, but you may have to get it ordered.

Definitely make sure that you ask for a new one since you're in the 30 days (I don't even know if they have refurbished ones available yet anyways...).

no they wont exchange it for you because bestbuy mobile has nothing to with corporate sprint stores as they go on their own.

Please don't say that as I just had a Sprint phone that was purchased outside of Sprint, exchanged at Sprint (even though they had to order it).

I'm in the same situation as well, purchased from Best Buy which was a 3 hour drive up. Best Buy's in San Diego don't sell Sprint phones. I've been waiting for them to get back into stock. I'm still within my 30 days, if not maybe switch carriers

Can anyone provide information as to why sprint won't exchange it in store.

I bought mine at best buy on the release date, and they switched it at a sprint corp store (they made sure they had some in stock and if i was still in my 30 days). make sure you have the box so they can scan it. they did mine no problem and best buy is a contractor for them as they stated but you can do it. I even took my best buy info out the box just in case they asked but they didnt. they pulled it up as a sprint upgrade device. they just make sure it does not have a bad esn the Floor Manager said. and i was out the door.

I bought mine at Best Buy and am in the same situation where Best Buy is out of stock. I called the Sprint store on saturday and they were out of stock too but I was told they would order one for me because I have insurance. They said I can pick it up tomorrow so we will see what happens. I'm not going to get my hopes up as the guy I talked to didn't seem to know what he was doing (didn't even ask me what was wrong with my pro).

Just want to let you guys know that I was able to swap mine out at the sprint corp store. I was there 2 weeks ago where the sensor for the stylus broke. They said that they would replace it and they didn't have any in stock. They called yesterday that they were holding one for me to exchange.

I previously called another Sprint corp store and they were the ones that said that they couldn't do anything. They weren't a repair store so she said that they couldn't do anything.

They never asked about me getting it from best buy

Yes, you can convince them to replace it but it's not amazingly easy. I actually failed each time, but I have done it on phones I have purchased of Craigslist. As long as you have insurance, you are good to go. Just tell them it was a Christmas gift, and you don't know where it was purchased, and that you assume it was a Sprint store.

I had my Touch swapped out some 6 times before I got one with a screen that was viewable from more than 60 degrees, so it's definitely possible :)

What sucks is that even the Sprint stock has issues. I have now had 4 Pros and they all had similar issues. Most of the people here who had theirs replaced, probably saw minimal improvements, and it was more of a mental/psychological thing. "Hey this is MUCH better!" -- but do they ask themselves if the phone is now up to par with it's $799 pricetag? (sometimes $749.)

I work at a Sprint corporate center and no, we will not exchange your phone. That is Best Buys inventory, not ours. Just think of it this way, if you bought a pair of Nikes at Foot Locker, would you try and get them exchanged at a Nike outlet?

Oh yeah and scrap, everyone that purchases anything from a corporate store will have a reciept attached to there account for 1 year. So no, sorry Sprint obviously wont fall for that.:angry7:

This makes sense on the surface, but there's another layer to the situation which is that Sprint services and supports the phone and only uses BBY as a reseller for a cut. So on balance, should Sprint not be willing to exchange the phone as well?

Yes, you WILL exchange it :) as long as it's a repair store, and they determine it defective. It doesn't matter WHERE you purchase it from, as it's a Sprint phone. As long as it's within the mfr warranty timeframe, they will swap, even without insurance.

If you have the insurance, they will swap right then in there, usually with a new phone, even if your phone is 10 years old, (assuming they have one to give you.)

If I bought a Nike shoe from footlocker, and it had a defect, then sure, why not? Why not take it to the company that makes/brands it?

With a car, you can buy one used, from any location, and you can typically still get the factory warranty, and at very least, the factory recall/repairs. So yes, I do think this is valid.

I've had at least a dozen phones swapped out at Sprint stores. Especially, after the 30-days, when you have no choice but to go to the Sprint store. That's what it's their for.

Re: I bought at Best Buy, can I exchange with local Sprint Store?

I bought my TP from BestBuy during the first week it was released. I had numerous issues with my first 2 TPs from BB. This past Sunday I went to the Sprint store and the repair team determined that my 2nd TP was defective. Therefore the manager at the sprint store gave me a new one out of the box,in exchange of my defective TP, without turning in my 2nd TP original box and accessories from Best Buy with no hesitation.

So what I am saying, it is worth a try. My TP was a gift as well.

Actually scrap he wants to do a 30day exchange so this is a different situation.](*,) Oh and as far as taking it to a repair center to get it replaced, we are a lot more strict about that now, it has to be a software issue and thats it, if theres any physical or liquid damage you have to go through Asurion. I really dont know how your dreamin this stuff up.:angry7:

No dreaming necessary. I did it with my Touch, 6 times, and I also did it with the Pro I bought at Best Buy.

I did it AGAIN last night, with a Pro I bought from Telesales--again, a totally separate entitiy from retail. No trouble whatsoever. They didn't even want to look at my phone.

As I walked out, the employee literally said, "Have a good night, I wish I had more customers like you." -- we were talking about how annoying customers could be, like the ones who didn't remove the plastic over the earpiece/etc.

So, yes, most any repair store will swap your phone--I've done it, what, 8 times now?

Scrap... Why do you inflate things so much?

The TP is not $799, or $749... That is the BB INFLATED price, not the MSRP... Please give the drama a rest...

If people choose to pay a mark up in price, that is their decision...

Normally people sneeze when they are allergic to something. Sounds more like you have an infection.

Many people have done this--just because you, or your one of thousands Sprint store does not, means very little, if anything at all.

Thank you for your entirely-relevant post. Even if this thread were all about the price, which it is not, obviously, then that is still the price that some people paid, and the rest of us paid for it via agreements. Signing a 2-year agreement is worth a lot of money to a carrier.
