Have you ever been to the sprint store and their big LCD with names of people has SPRINT somethign or other burned into it? you can see it against the yellow background.

I completely agree that LCD screens do not burn in. Now that said mine has lol. I don't know what the deal is with mine but I do know that when I first had the phone the unlock keypad was on all night a couple times. I didn't think of it cause like we established the rule of thumb is that LCD's don't burn in so no big deal right.

All I know is if I but on a black screen in a dark room I can kind of sort of see the keypad and Plainly see the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

I'm confused as to how it happened. I now make sure that the screen is off when charging and just sitting and so on.

Mine kicks in and out of roaming all night, and the screen doesn't turn off on its own it seems while it is charging. I never changed any options, so usually mine ends up displaying the S2U2 charging screen all night.

It's just image persistence. Leave your phone displaying a totally white screen all night, and it should mostly go away. Might take a couple nights to be perfect.

Yes, that sounds like a totally normal use scenario :p

So, uh, you don't have it set to power off after 3 minutes on AC? You probably should try that.

For most LCDs, leaving the display off or displaying a full screen display of black (0,0,0) for the same duration as the image that is now persistent will clear it up. If that doesn't remedy it, you can try alternating between 100% white and black every few minutes until the persistent image is cleared.

I've had several LCD projectors that had issues with this "pixel memory" or persistence issue and was always able to remedy it using this simple fix.

for LCD's its not called burn-in but rather ghosting or image-persistance. The good thing about LCDs is that ghosting is typically revertible as there are abunch of programs online that tries to 'reset' your pixels by flashing all the base colors in rapid order. I had a LCD I had to get replaced by Dell because of a horrible ghosting problem. The thing about my Dell monitor was that I think the lamp was malfunctioning and overheated/ruined the top bar of my LCD and created more or less permanent ghost image of the close/minimize bar of my windows. It would be really obvious on a white background.

I'm sure you felt good after writing that post, truth is people know it as burn in, including sprint.

I also am the proud owner of a phone that displays my locking screen all the time. Here's the interesting thing, my 700wx, 6800, 6900 all had the screen on while charging and never had this issue.

Someone said it's not a reason to return the phone? I am not going to run screens of base colors on the most expensive phone I've ever owned to try to fix the problem myself. Mine goes back tomorrow.

Also, look at most grocery store check out monitors, the trains on the strip in Vegas, or other places like the Sprint store. This is much more common than you think. However my Touch Pro is less than a month old. I'm very unimpressed with the screen now.

Anything with plastic can burn in.
your not burning in on the crystal display, your burning the image into another "portion" of the layer.
I've seen many LCD's with burn in.

No screen problems here.
Mine is usually off if i can muster it.
But s2u2 is locking apps off when the phone goes into standby now, so i might have internet connection screen burned in if i keep it up.

Your the second person that has brough up this issue. So I imagine the screen does burn in. Remember this is not a qvga scree. its a different beast all together. So these anomalies will come out and be future issues. Now that i think about it I think this is the only device that sports a vga screen at 2.8.

I swear it looks like mine does come and go.I try not to leave the screen on when not in use due to battery issues. But it does concern me that I never had this probelm with my 6700 or my 6800. I don't know if it is worth taking back but, being that I'm in the first 30 days I would get a new replacement. If I wait and it gets worse then I increase my risk of getting a refurbished through TEP. I have had refurbished phones before and they normally work fine. It's the fact that I paid a pretty penny for this phone and its not a month old I don't want a refurbed replacement the first few months I own the phone.
