Definite proof of capacitive bottom
Someone over at xda found some a list of debug tools. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...53#post2509753
With test HTCSensorDemoAP.exe you can view position of the diamond, ambient value , brightness level. With NavDbgTool.exe you can actually test out the capacitive function of your phone. Only if it works flawlessly in all environments.
Remember HTC, and Sprint for that matter, have been burned several times for boosting technologies which were not entirely functional. |

If this is taken advantage of, we can add lots of short cuts to replace our loss of hardware buttons. The challenge will be to make it so it doesn't interfere with our normal use. but how about tap (not click) the center twice then tap one of the four buttons? I now have 4 new shortcuts.

capitative functions were first obvious to me when using the camera app on the tp. I was just touching the dpad and it was doing stuff and i became giddy with joy. But from my understanding of the first post it also applies to the home, back and call and end buttons too?

I can imagine the functionality of the buttons can far exceed the mogul's then. Imagine single, double, triple touch capictative in addition to single, double and triple depression of a button. The problem is the software would have support that too. That's why currently only certain apps (opera, camera) are able to use the capicitative features - of the dpad at least.

I noticed this when I tried putting my finger underneath my t-shirt and pushing the Home/Back/Send/End buttons. When I do that on the Back/End buttons, either the buttons don't register or it produces the right direction button, which makes sense. The weird thing is that on the left side, the Home button sometimes works and the Send button always seems to work. Now I know why it didn't work when I just got the phone and tried to press the buttons through the protective film.
