what's the easiest fastest way to transfer contacts from mogul to tp?
 

i need to transfer all my contacts over. what's the quickest easiest way? can i use bluetooth somehow? thanks

I sync all my stuff with Outlook...that's the easiest way I've found.

I install the trial of SPB Backup before I flash my ROM, then backup what I need, then restore it on the new one. I like it because it's faster than syncing my contacts and SPB maintains the individuality of them so when I sync with Exchange it doesn't duplicate them all like PIM did.

i guess i could use the sprite backup image of my mogul and ask it to only restore contacts, but i was hoping for an easier way just using bluetooth somehow....

copy PIM.vol from main directory in Mogul, use resco explorer or total commander and paste over PIM.vol in main directory on TP, soft reset, BAM all contacts ready to go!

You could:

use outlook
use Dashwire
use mail2web free exchange server account
PIM backup

I think the fastest and safest way would be mail2web - create the account, add the server to the mogul, wait for it to sync, then add to the touch pro and wait a bit more. Dashwire is about the same, but it takes longer in my experience for the initial sync on both devices.

Outlook is a surefire method - I personally hate activesync and everything linked to it, but assuming nothing goes massively wrong it should work great.

PIM backup would be the best, fastest, and simplest method, but I don't know what version of WM is on you mogul. If it's different from Wm6.1 there could be a difference in how the databases are ordered and it will not restore correctly on the touch pro.

You could use bluetooth, but last time I tried that I had to send each contact individually. Huge time waster.

pim backup is by far fastest stiil bluetooth is SLOW

+1 for Outlook via Activesync and having Outlook 2007 makes it sooo much easier to extract your contacts to an Excel sheet just in case.

THEN sync to dashwire. If you use Dashwire first then sync to Outlook it will cause duplicate and triplicate contact entries. its a known issue and it stopped me from using the service until i got this phone because i refused to wipe my mogul yet again.

I tried the pim.vol trick with Total Commander and it resulted in TF3D not being able to loadn and yet another lengthy Hard Reset of my phone.

So First use Outlook via Active Sync (be sure to set it to change items on computer on the initial sync)

Then export those contacts to a spreadsheet of some kind

Then head over to Dashwire.com and create yourself an account and avail yourself of the free awesomeness that is the service they provide.

I did it. It works fine. Just don't try to open the contacts until AFTRE THE SOFT RESET. Other than that, there should be ZERO issues.

Seem to work so far. by doing that i even got the call history transferred over. it did say can't overwrite file first time, but that was probably because i used the phone to call someone a little bit before. after a soft reset i was able to overwrite. then another soft reset and it's ready to go...

that's what I prefer too, plus you have an online backup then you can sync it on any device

Ok people I need to get my contacts transferd as well and I have been trying to beam but i have no clue where the contacts go. both my phones are pretty much still standard and I have no computer near me. any help please

try pim backup... free download just look it up it will restore everyhting in like 5 min including ur txts and call logs and emails...everythingggg.... and it saves it to like a tiny file and just install to pimbackup to tp and hit restore... this program can also be scheduled to restore ur fone every night and make a new file.. its soo simple and awesome thas wat i used...

i personally like PIM backup it gets your contacts extracted and replaced quick fast and in a hurry and does a great job as far as im concerned.

Windows Live, It syncs my contacts with hotmail. I can restore it on the fly and when I add a new #, I re sync. I found this method to be the easiest and the most convenient.

I have used PIM backup because its free, and i have gone from my samsung i600 to ppc6700 to ppc6800 and now my Touch PRO. It also does all your txt messages.

Insert an SD with pimbackup on it, backup, insert the sd into your touch pro restore.

Been doing that since Apache.
