HTC TP 2007 Daylight Savings Patch

I picked up this wonderful device Saturday and noticed this Sunday morning that it had adjusted for daylight savings (DST). It appears that the TP is missing the Microsoft DST update for Windows Mobile (KB949168) and, therefore, is not aware of the new 2007 DST standard where DST ends the first Sunday of November instead of the last Sunday of October which happens to be Sunday today. After installing the patch I manually changed the time back to 1:59AM and it correctly rolled over to 2:00AM without adjusting for the old DST standard.

*** Note ***
Unless you bought your TP and had it powered on prior to 2am Sunday 10/26/2008 you won't notice the old DST taking affect due to the missing 2007 DST patch.

Re: HTC TP 2007 Daylight Savings Patch

Good to know, and good catch.

I've just had issues with DST in general since I'm in Arizona. Tapping on the clock always brings me to the date and time settings and changes the timezone to -7 MST, when I really am in -7 AZ (no DST), so it winds up being that every time I want to change my alarm times, I have to also change the timezone back to AZ, and re-sync the time from the cellular network, otherwise it is effectively an hour behind.

I hard reset mine and the clock ended up at the wrong time, so thanks for the post. While I'm here, how do I tell the phone my local area code? Since the hard reset, it lost my local info...

Time's been fine on mine, and I got it on Friday night...

Re: HTC TP 2007 Daylight Savings Patch

My Titan I would set it for MST -7 Arizona and it would automatically not change for DST.
This version does not and like you said every time it synchronizes it shifts it up one hour.

This very well could be a user issue but it seems almost like its a ROM issue. Not a big deal just a little annoying.

I would think that with WM 6.1 the patch would be included.... but here is the link on HTC's website as well.... http://www.htc.com/us/supportcontent.aspx?id=12064

Saddly none of those patches make it work for Arizona :(

I have to manually change it from Pacific to Mountain this is the whole point of them having an Arizona selection is because we do not observe DST. Not a big deal or anything but it worked on all my other WM phones?

It's not clear what you're trying to say. Are you implying that you went into Settings/System/Clock and selected "GMT-5 Eastern US" but it's still showing "GMT-6 Central US"?

i have iGO which always sets the time one to london time. anyway. when i get out of the software, i always just change to eastern time "GMT-5 Eastern Us" but it's always an hour off and i have to change it back manually.

+1. Applied the patch and it keeps switching to 1 hour ahead. Turned off Time Sync and it still auto switches 1 hour ahead.

I removed the patch and reset the clock to the correct time to see what happens.

Re: HTC TP 2007 Daylight Savings Patch

I to have this problem on me and my wife's touches. Mine automatically adjusted for dst on Sunday hers did not. Later on mine changed to +1 after I had to turn it off then back on. I updated both phones w/ dst patch and it works longer on mine then it does on hers.

The weird thing is that the today screen clock and the musicflo clock are different when ever this happens. It's like musicflo is pullling the time from a different place then the today screen.

To make it weirder. To day my time has been correct all day so I tried turning it off then back on to see what would happen. Well after it came on it was incorrect. I went to phone settings and updated the time w/ the network. The today clock was correct but the date/time bar that you can have was +1. I went and changed the time manually by a couple of minutes the updated w/ the cell and it corrected itself.

I am going to eventually call sprint or go to the store to blow there minds but I don't have the time right now. I have had this phone for a year and had this problem last year and I think what I had to do was turn off syching w/ the cell towers. But in the spring I turned it on before dst switch and didn't have any tiem problems till know.

Worked great on mine - I'd disable the "auto time zone from cell network" feature in the phone settings. It may be reporting your timezone inaccurately. It worked fine for me in TN, CA, AZ and CO so far, with the feature turned on. I was in CA when the timezone change happened, and the time, again, set itself properly.

Re: HTC TP 2007 Daylight Savings Patch

ok...I will try and be as clear as possible about this:

I live and work in the Central Time Zone.
I have an HTC Touch Pro.
I set the time settings to be Central. However, when the phone soft resets it turns itself back to Mountain Time (Windows default for this device apparently).
The time on the phone is right according to the time it should be, it is just showing Mountain instead of Central.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Sean

I'm in eastern, worked fine for me, even switching on the revised dates.

Try a hard reset, rennie.

I happened to be up reading PPCGeeks when the time changed. At 2 AM it changed to 1 AM. Then at the new 2 AM it changed to 1 AM again. I soft reset and it came up to 2 AM correctly. I remember PC Windows having this same problem for at least one year.

I live in the Eastern Time Zone... I got my phone just before the time change, and the clock changed itself at just the right time. No patch needed.

Arizona here, and all above said issues are here.

Patches don't do squat.

Settings are also useless.

Setting to Pacific timezone fixes it, you'd think they would have fixed this by now.

I am in an online doctorate program with the University of Phoenix, so during this stretch (March-November) of time I love how I get to turn my work in 2 hours later being in the CST. I find it weird how AZ doesn't use Day Light Savings time.
