So let me get this straight.... the conclusion is that we NOT use our phones, and then the battery will last longer. Sounds like a great plan.

Well, I have to resign from this thread... I have no more complaints. Since MightyMike's ROM, I've had no issues in regards to battery life or overheating. My phone lasts for roughly 2 days.

So is the 3000 mAh Mugen really the best battery option we are going to get ??? Or is there a 2200 - 2500 that maybe only adds the thickness of Sedios "hump back" battery... Basically I can deal with the thickness the Seidio adds, but I prefer the uniformity of the Mugen. If the Seidio would make their case be uniform, and not just a hump out the back, then I would definitely buy it.

Heat. Heat is the battery killer for this phone. What makes it even worse is the phone has a heat issue. it's a vicious cycle. Thankfully we have people smart enough between us and XDA who have figured these problems out.

I was one of the first people to receive a Sprint Diamond. It had an active battery life of a car battery powering a 42" plasma TV.

So I tore them a new one on BuzzAboutWireless (Sprint's Official Forum) and proceeded to cook a rom that more than doubled battery life and made the phone faster in about a day.

That's what I call dropping the ball.

Is it best to charge from wall charger or does it not matter, between using 12v charger, USB and wall chargers?

Slightly different issue, my phone has been in my pocket all day(5 hours), with rather limited use(1 quick email, and a text), and it is now quite hot to the touch on the back, and I have seemed to have lost most of my battery life.

Any thoughts? I've previous expierenced the heat issue when the phone was in heavy use, but never with it idle.

When that happens, check the data indicator arrows. I've found when thats happening to my phone the data connection is stuck on, forcing it to transmit. Drains the battery the same or worse as a phone call. Applications cant access the internet, and "end data connection" button in comm manager does absolutely nothing except lock up the comm manager. The best thing to do in that situation is either make a phone call and hang up as soon as it connects (the act of connecting successfully disconnects the data connection) or soft reset.

Soft reset. Sometimes a process will get stuck and constantly run CPU cycles.

Instead of pursuing compactness, they should have made it (TP) twice the size. The cell should have at least 4-5 times the capacity of the stock one, at 5,000 or 6,000 mAh or the Whr of 20-25 instead of a pitiful 4.9Whr.

that would have the benefit of large keyboard also...

Instead they pursuie tiny-ism and lack of functionality.

1340 mAh is utterly unacceptable.. in this minilaptop basically.
