As for standby, without it doing anything I can routinely get 48 hours, and have hit 72 hours a few times. This is, of course, not using the phone or data AT ALL. If I use either of those functions, then battery life spirals downwards (lose about 24+ hours of standby time for every hour on the phone/data)

And yes, it looks absolutely marvelous while it is sitting there not doing anything
The rated talk time is 3 hours

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I think alot of users with the Pro might have been coming from a non PDA type of phone. I know me personally had a Treo and hated it. I went back to my Sanyo M1 which I loved. This is my first WM device and I gotta say I love it. Everything the phone is capable of doing is worth having to keep the phone on a charger as much as possible. I am even thinking about switching to that 3000mAh extended battery. So what if it makes the phone a little bigger? If the phone lasts twice as long on one charge then Its worth it. The thing is like a laptop that fits in my pocket. So why not?
Even with the standard battery I get pretty good life out of it. I surf a little (maybe 15mins total) if that, I rarely watch videos, and I text like a maniac. I also hardly TALK on the phone. However the ONLY gripe I have with the phone is the heating of the battery. I just cant see how that would be good for the device with something getting THAT hot back there?
I work with electronics everyday, and one thing I know is HEAT is not good for them. lol
If HTC could find a way to make their battery last as long as the Iphone, then they would put the Iphone outta business. Hands down a better phone then the Iphone.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I know that I come from a long line of PDAs and the Touch Pro has the worst battery life of any of them. :P

Anyway... Since MightyROM has the fast USB charging, I'm not worried about the battery life at all.

Just my 2 cents.

What about the screen size, mass-compatibility, app store, capactive screen, GREAT build quality, (not like the Pro's, which is terrible,) and the fluid performance of the iPhone?

I see where you are going with your comments, but it's really hard to justify a comment like, "hands down better than the Iphone."

If the iPhone had WM on it, or was at least compatible with WM applications, I bet most of us wouldn't be using HTC products...

Hell, I would bet that if someone hacked the iPhone into running WM, about 25% of people in here would switch instantly. Huge battery, big screen, compatible with thousands of docks/media players/car stereos/etc...

... and this is coming from someone who absolutely despisesApple, and all their business practices. I just don't think the Pro, or Diamond, or any phone really, is "hands down," better than the iPhone.

Even the Pre is not hands-down better, because it won't have the same large user base/app store... It will get there eventually, but it will take time.

Well according to sprint.com "up to 4 hours of continuous talk time", but I was responding to the person saying "if you used the phone for 3.5 hours, and then 30 min of data, then you've already burned 40% of your battery" comment. I would LOVE if I could use 3.5 horus of talk and 30 min of data and still be at 60%

Does the fast USB charging eliminate the overheating/non-charging problems that we were all having?

Oh damn you are right, I forgot it really is rated at 4 hours. What a freakin' lie. Maybe if you are tethered to a PC over USB, using it's internet connection for skype...

I couldn't even get 2 hours, while plugged in. That's why I gave up on the Pro, and set my sights on the Pre.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I noticed that the phone wasn't overheating at all while it was charging through my computer's USB port. It was barely warm to the touch even when I started tethering to test stability using the Force EVDO trick...

I can also tell you that it doesn't get hot charging off my 6800 charger or the official chrome HTC car charger. But it DOES get hot using the supplied wall charger and the Sprint car charger.

I thought I said 2 30min calls and 30 min data == 40%. Not 3.5 hours! That's the actual rated life, not "up to 4 hours" per sprint.

Today as a test I am NOT plugging it in at all during the day (2 30 minute drives would usually just plug it in while it is sitting there in the vent-mount... Off charger 9 hours so far, @ 53% battery. Includes 1 short call, 20 txts, 2 hours BT headset on, normal hourly checks of 2 imap emails, and 30 min or so total surfing. Mogul would be at about 75-80% battery. But then again, the mogul is not sexsay

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Well after a week... the battery life is greatly improving. I pulled it from the charger at noon, sent text messages all day, was on the phone for about an hour, and was at 60% when I got home at 11PM.
