Hard Reset??
So I followed the instructions in the book, and on the HTC site itself(which oddly enough are different),and I cant hard reset this phone (Want to get rid of the Sprint Bloatware)..
Anyone else having this issue or know of another possible way? Tried :Holding the VolDown button enter buttonand soft reset..Release reset but continue holding the 2 buttons till the message pops up(HTC way on website) Tried: Holding power, vol down and enter, and holding all 3 till message shows up(manual way) No messages about hard reset :( |
Re: Hard Reset??
Did you look in start/ settings/system/clear storage/ ?
Thanks T M Z |

Re: Hard Reset??

Re: Hard Reset??
Honestly, I doubt you will be able to remove the Sprint bloatware until a cooked ROM comes out, so a hard reset will probably do nothing.

Re: Hard Reset??
If ya do a soft reset before the customizations screen runs, the unwanted sprint things will not load
Least it worked on my other phone that way The things like Navi and Music store etc,are still available to load after doing so,ya just gotta find em |

Re: Hard Reset??
Well this is interesting...after doing this, and recalibrating the screen with the stylus,it keeps retrying the customization,to which I soft reset again...its like a cycle lol

Re: Hard Reset??
I spent 30 mins trying to figure out hardreset via buttons and nothing. I tried both sprint was and GSM way, nothing.

Re: Hard Reset??
I got it to work twice yesterday.... Just keep the volume down button + the enter and hit the power button after and hold all 3, don't let anything go and it will give you the warning screen. Make sure the phone is off when you do it. Took me about 6 trys before I got it, but it works none the less!

Re: Hard Reset??
i can't get it to load winmo clean.... it won't hard reset by doing the volume up + enter + power; and when you reset device in the settings it just keeps doing the first launch customizations every time you soft reset, no matter when you soft reset.
if anybody has any ideas of how to load winmo clean, please post. |
Re: Hard Reset??
i think i've isolated the registry entries so that we can get a clean install; they're going to be in
\HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\FLASHDRV\ now i gotta figure out what each does.... |
Re: Hard Reset??
You must let customizations run ! If you soft-reset after a hard reset when it's telling you it's about to do them, it will hard-reset the phone. I'm sure this can be hacked but for now, I guess we have to deal with it. I did it fine on my diamond, but this wont let you hard-reset without running the customizations, it tells you it's about to in 3 seconds and then you soft-reset but then just goes back to a "setting up your phone for first use" in red. It's not like on the diamond, hard reset, soft reset and another soft reset and your good.

Re: Hard Reset??
Tryin' to do a hard reset and it doesn't get me to the page it says in the manual. It gets to this Security unlocked page that has red white and green and a bunch of information, but nothing about deleting all personal data...etc... (like it says in the manual).
Anybody have any suggestions? |

Make sure you are pressing Volume Down rather than Volume up. |

Then do the volume down+enter+power button. |

Everytime I did the volume down plus enter plus power button (WHILE THE PHONE WAS PHYSICALLY OFF) it went toa screen that had red white and green lines covering the screen with info about the phone RAPH800 etc, etc... Anyhow, I just hard reset through the phone by clearing the storage. |
Re: Hard Reset??
for some reason it seems like the TP wants to be a bastard for the first hard reset. after I got it to work (had to have the phone on hold all the buttons and push soft reset to finally get it to work) the power off power on while holding the buttons method started working for me.

Re: Hard Reset??
if you see the htc screen you need to start over. try holding the buttons and then using the stylus to push the soft reset button (all while the phone is on) vol down + enter + power push the softreset ( I had to use my mouth for the stylus) holding the buttons the whole time till an all grey screen appears.

It sounds like you do not have the center button depressed all the way. The screen you are referring to sounds like bootloader. The sequence to go into bootloader is the same as a hard reset minus the center button. However I understand your pain, I consider myself a very intelligent person yet it took me 30 minutes to successfully complete a button hard reset. Personally I believe that the button sequence actually matters. Most people say it doesnt, however when I did it a certain way it worked. Try this: Power Phone off. IN THIS ORDER hold Vol Down then Center Button, then power button, then hit the reset button on the bottom. When I did it in that particular order it worked. Be sure that the center button is fully depressed. -Sayajin |

I'm an adult and not talking to you like you're illiterate. I was just making sure that you CLEARLY understood the instructions, which obviously you don't if it still won't hard reset. I struggled myself with the same problem 2 days ago and finally got it. I was ONLY trying to be helpful... |
