Re: Htc touch pro talk time?
While the iPhone does have some advantages such as a larger screen with better color and multitouch, it lacks so many other things: A true multitasking OS, other OS like Android, stereo bluetooth, video out, office suite, replaceable battery with an option for an extended internal one, hardware keyboard, camera that takes videos, flash card, VGA resolution (albiet a smaller screen), the list just goes on. The 3G iPhone2 still doesn't have official cut and paste. I've seen its Safari choke and close on pages. 3G battery life is reported to be very reduced and possibly worse after the 2.1 update - the one to fix the low signal strength 3G problems that Apple originally denied existed and caused many to return their new phones after it would constantly drop calls.
My first opportunity for a Sprint discount will be in December. Hopefully any early production issues with the Touch Pro will be taken care of by then. Reduced battery life would be a disappointment but not a deal killer - I carry a backup now for a Mogul. My biggest challenge will be to wait. I think the local Sprint stores will be seeing alot of me when it comes out. Last edited by PdaOd; 09-13-2008 at 02:45 PM. |

Re: Htc touch pro talk time?
i dont need a "chill pill" and i couldnt care less what wmexperts says.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...26&postcount=1 2nd photo. Looks like more than just my opinion, its right there on paper official from HTC - 250min talktime aka 4 hours 10 min or the SAME 4.1 hour rating as the Mogul. Same 1340 battery the Pro will have with 99% identical hardware. I tend to trust HTC's own specs WAY more than any blog site. Anyone doing a little leg work could have figured this out as easily as I just did. I said exactly where to go find the info, if youd rather believe some dumb tech blog then so be it. Youre welcome for the research, and next time do a little before shooting the guy giving you the real facts. Just because someone can run a tech website doesnt mean they know jack and anyone who doesnt has no clue, because thats FAR from the truth. A lot of those guys know very little about their subject matter and do it for the advertising $$$ Last edited by SprintTouch08; 09-14-2008 at 01:18 AM. |

Re: Htc touch pro talk time?
Im far from stupid and can read the thread title and subforum. Its comparing 2 EQUAL devices minus a keyboard. So tell me the differences then... same processor, same screen, same internals overall (more ROM space but more physical storage space means nothing to battery power), same camera, same wifi and gps on the same battery. So what exactly would take more power on the Pro to make it any less talktime? The keyboard takes no power, ok... nominal for the LED's. The components using the battery power are identical minus a few LEDs on the keyboard which are nominal battery drainers.
Its simple comparative logic, little more than an educated guess but you still dont seem to get it, so youre free to believe whatever you want to believe. And you were the one who came swinging insinuating that my facts were simply a dumb opinion and didnt mean anything because your info was from godly wmexperts so it MUST be more creditable, not me. I simply know better than trust any blog site over a real press release from the manufacturer when theres one available and use a little brain power of my own analyzing the situation. FYI you do know WCDMA and GSM have nothing at all to do with the Sprint CDMA version. Last edited by SprintTouch08; 09-14-2008 at 01:43 PM. |

Re: Htc touch pro talk time?
Wow, this is becoming a heated debate. Okay guys, let me end your discussion here. This goes for any cell phone.
Talk time battery life is heavily dependent on your position relative to the closest tower. When a phone is far away, it is wasting extra juice staying connected (boosting its own reception) and trying to connect to the next one. Theres no use in arguing about .35 hours guys, that can be the usual plus and minus amounts when calculating these things. My point is, with backlight off, no wifi, and a connection within feet of the nearest tower, whos to say that you wont get 5 hours with the touch pro? These test are done only to give you an ear shot of what you can expect in real world settings, and most of them are done in stationary positions rather than someone traveling while talking like most of us do. RELAX EVERYBODY! Its just numbers. |

Re: Htc touch pro talk time?
hey i agree with you it is just a number that can vary in real life
my issue is when i try to post some valid info with proof and a logical conclusion for the community, and someone basically says hey you know nothing x or y blog site said this so it must be right you dont know what youre talking about. Then the proof isnt good enough because its not "official" from the pro itself even though its 98% identical in the power drawing components to the diamond so talktimes will logically be the same if theres nothing more drawing power from the same battery. well. the Touch PRO does have more ram and well it takes power to run the ram. which is why it is cleared when you turn off the phone its using power. same with your computer. tho i think you have more then enough brain power to get that one. its just 1 small thing that can be over looked. i also doubt that small amount of ram well create ~.35 of a difference. but you never know. i also though the keybord had a light and the pro also has the light sensor on it. i think its just the small things that bring the batt life down but i can care less. as long as it lives for the day. we can always recharge. + the batt life on all our phones will very depending on the apps we run and how much we use it. |

Back on topic, yes I do know that WCDMA and GSM have nothing to do with the Sprint CDMA version, I was just proving a point that HTC hasn't officially said anything about the talktime of the Sprint Touch Pro. |
