phone as modem with Win 7
Usint my TP as a modem. Internet Sharing and wmwifrouter via usb worked flawlessly on my Windows XP laptop. It also worked with my Win 7 laptop until I did a hard reset last week. Now the computer doesn't recognize it (xp does). wmwifirouter still works via wifi but no usb. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

If I am going to be online for hours I prefer using USB. The phone stays a lot cooler. Same problem with Internet Sharing.

Re: phone as modem with Win 7
I am using an energy rom currently....
When it isn't working look at the phone screen. If it says "connecting to network: then disconnect and reconnect. After 3 or 4 tries the "connecting to network" will change to "connected" and POOF your online. Also, it may actually say something like "awaiting network" or "waiting for network" instead of "connecting to network" but thats academic anyway. So try to disconnect and reconnect 3 or 4 times in a row and see if it eventually changes to "connected" as it should be. Sometimes it works the first time, sometimes the 4th. |
Re: phone as modem with Win 7
the same story with my tp a couple of months ago. i guess it's all about the firewall settings. anyway it's my opinion. what i did was reinstalling win7 and make an internet sharing connection on a "clean" wndows 7. you got the connection? ok. now make a FULL backup of your clean win7 and then only install your antivirus and firewall apps. it helped me.
if it seems pretty boring to go thru it all then you'd better dig into your firewall settings - that is the problem:) |
Re: phone as modem with Win 7
I somehow had disabled "local area connection" on the laptop. Up and running now. wmwifirouter via usb and Internet Sharing both working fine. Thanks
