Broken Display?

Ok I have a US Cellular touch pro with the latest Energy rom and lately the display has been acting weird. It'll be working fine one minute then next thing you know it'll either have a black screen (backlight still on) or a series of vertical fading vertical blue lines. It has also done the line thing with other colors cycling through them...kinda looks like an animated wallpaper. Sometimes I can get to go back to normal if I keep turning the screen on and off, but I usually have to take the battery out and reset it a few times to go back to normal. Programs still run while the screen is black, I also noticed if I hold down the power button to go to the slide2shutdown menu it sometimes fixes it...so I really can't tell if its a problem with the rom or a hardware problem. Any advice?

It sounds like a ribbon cable connecting the screen to the circuit board is loose, fried, whatever.

To test, I'd flash the phone back to stock and relock... but like I said, that sounds like a hardware failure. I've used EnergyROM's for a while now, and that's never happened to me :D

I second that, ive never seen energyrom do that, and as arrrghh said, it is most likely a hardware issue.

How would I go about fixing it if it is a hardware issue? I know how to use google...but I've had some bad experiences with random tutorials. Should I just get another phone?

If you don't feel comfortable with it, get insurance or yea get another phone. You can try to replace the damaged part, but you very well may end up making it worse. You have to be very comfortable with taking apart electronics, it's very tedious and you have to be extremely careful. Also, specialized tools is sometimes needed to prevent from damaging the device.

I've taken apart quite a few electronics, thats not a problem. The problem for me is putting them back together lol. Plus not knowing the exact problem with my phone would make it rather difficult for me to fix it. I'll probably find another phone then try to fix this one and sell it.

This EXACT same thing is happening to me. I bought mine from Let'sTalk.com over a year ago (sprint service) so I'm really at a loss about what to do. I'm open to trying to fix it myself. Does anyone have some suggestions about where to start? Please help!](*,)
