Please help, Flashing Help
I am new to this world. I have a Sprint HTC TP and have successfully unlocked it. when I try and flash a new ROM, and have tried many all with the same result. it gets all the way to the download bar and at 1% it stops my phone turns off and I get an error pop up that say,
"This Update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility" What the heck am I missing. I have successfully flashed MightyRom on a previous TP but am unable to do it this time. I apologize if I was not supposed to start a new thread. I just don't know where else to go for help. Thanks to any that help. Am willing to donate for the help!!! |
Re: Please help, Flashing Help
here's a video walkthrough...
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69854 and here's some basic steps to take: make sure the connection between your usb cable, phone, and computer are secure. meaning, its not loose and wont get disconnected. make sure you have activesync installed. make sure your computer doesnt have hibernate mode enabled. |
Re: Please help, Flashing Help
Also make sure you're using a CDMA ROM and not a GSM ROM!
I would double check that you are unlocked. Do this by: 1. Powering off the phone 2. Press and Hold Vol Down and Power 3. Should be at the tri-color bootloader screen 4. Make sure you see CMONEX at the top with the SPL information! You may also want to try a different USB cable or flashing from the SD card. |
Re: Please help, Flashing Help
yes, try flashing from the SD Card, works great and faster too. :-)

Re: Please help, Flashing Help
also if you are doing it via usb make sure the setting "enable faster data syncronization" is not checked. this can sometimes mess things up.

Re: Please help, Flashing Help
Just in case you dont know how:
Flashing from SD card: 1.) Unzip the .rar or .zip file of the downloaded rom (if it is an .exe file, see if you can right click and extract...) 2.) Rename the Signed_RUU.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh 3.) Copy file to the ROOT of the SD card (The image file should be found under the SD and not in a folder within it) 4.) Make sure the microSD is in your phone and send your phone into BOOTLOADER by holding the POWER and VOL - keys and softresetting. 5.) Your phone will automatically read the img file and ask if you want to continue (press pwr button) or cancel (press center circle button) 6.) Once flash is complete, phone will ask you to reset, soft reset and there is your new rom. AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT ROM... CDMA OR GSM (IF YOU HAVE A SIM CARD, YOU ARE PROBABLY GSM) |
Re: Please help, Flashing Help
Thank you all for your input. Its comforting to know you guys are here willing to help us rookies. I'm positive I do have the cmonex and the tri color unlock screen. the screen reads as follows:
RAPH800 SPL-0.37.CMONEX MicroP-Hermann (LED) v0c85 MicroP-Herman (KEY) v0685 PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20 I think I should be OK there. I'm using a docking station with a USB. I have completed the mightyrom with this same set up before, as I said. I'm running vista 64bit and I'm thinking my issue may be with that. Also as hamagc said "enable faster data synchronization" is not checked. this can sometimes mess things up" I'm not sure where to find this info. How do I uncheck it if it's checked. Mapaz04 thank u also. I understand how to do most of the flashing to a sd card except for the 3rd instruction. How do I get to the root of the sd card. Is that the first screen that appears right after I enter my storage card. Again Thanks to all |
Re: Please help, Flashing Help
For some reason, I have always had to flash from sd. It never works through activesync
