Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

i got it to work, and was able to download an app from the marketplace and get it installed, but it didn't work (i didn't think it would, it was skymap). however, i did get facebook up and running, and posted to it from my phone. facebook online says 'posted from android mobile'. also got my contacts in from google sync without too much problem. it is a pain in the butt not having a 'u' on the hard keyboard, lol, seeing as how i almost always have to use it (see username).

i'm intrigued. may bite the bullet and get the n1

In the 1/9 & 1/10 builds, battery status on my device says charging whether or not it's actually plugged in. Anyone else seeing this? Wondering if it has to do with my rom,I've got No2chem's fast-charge battery driver cooked in.

Makkonen, what rom are you using? If you think it's worth the trouble, I might flash the same one to eliminate some variables in testing.

It says charging for me as well (everyone i'm assuming) I don't think rom is an issue once you boot into android.

Could be, but the functionality of the mic, backlight control, CDMA data, etc in Android are affected by their state in WinMo when HaRET is launched.

mine also says charging. battery indicator is completely screwed up, but you should still be able to use android. battery life is also rather diminished, but that may be because i think this is a linux shell running on top of winmo. it isn't as if you're booting into android, you're running haret.exe

So then if I disable manilla I should have more free memory in android? Testing :)

Not much difference. after disabling Manila I went from free memory in the high 30s to the really low 40s so 4 to 5 meg difference. I don't know if that's significant

i'm sure you've seen this already but just incase, basically this is just shy of an andriod rom. a wm rom that is stripped to nothing but the core to run haret.exe

WARNING: This is not a WindowsMobile ROM. This has just WM core actually required to launch Android.
Do you want only to use android, and you don't want to boot in WM before booting Android? This is what you need!
How it works:
It checks for haret.exe in your sd. If it is here, it launchs it immediately. You will see Android booting in 5 sec +/-
If it is not here it shuts down automatically your phone. There will be no booting in WM anyway!
Why? Fast booting is due to lack of most drivers and extensions. You won't be able to do anything in WM part...

Happy playing.

(After basic HW initialization (30sec) you'll see android booting in 5 sec)

I got Eclair booting, but I wouldn't call it working. It's so slow that I can't even unlock the screen. What could I be doing wrong? How much free space should I have on my SD card after the fact?

Make sure you're using the latest zimage/modules and it seems to get better as it runs.

Hey Makkonen - you might want to add Bluetooth to the list of working/non-working on the first post of this thread.
