Please help with a delayed ring problem

I am experiencing a very delayed ring when I am called. Most of the time it will only ring once on my end before I miss it. When I call back, the other person (my wife) says that it had rang 5 times and went to voice mail. If I happen to have the phone in my hand, I notice that it does light up, but it takes several seconds to actually ring. I can't just hold the dang thing all the time in anticipation of a call. Is this just a custom ringtone issue? I even used the mp3 trimmer and cropped the silence out of it. Helped a little but not much. Anyone have anything on this?

Have you tried one of the standard ringers just to compare? Also, HD tweaks has a tweak to disable "ring delay" Works for me. I notice with diff roms/diff ringers this ring delay can be better or worse. Just my thoughts.

Where might I find this tweak? I'd really like to give it a try.

What is your slot cycle set at? Sprint sets it at 2, which causes a delay before it rings. I used ##778# and MSL to change it to 1.

I've got the same problem. I see we're both on Verizon.

Why would they even program in a delay?

Tried using a preprogrammed ringtone and it didn't change. Calling Verizon now...
