tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
ok so logged into my account with sprint and found my fair and flex family plan for 800 mins with my 4 lines, after discounts and tax is about 125ish, well log in and see that it shows my bill for $264.
Call them and say the tp2 is not compatible with that plan, I'm on hold with acct services right now, trying to see what we can do. but I might say good by to sprint after about i would say close to 10 years. Anyone else have this happen? they are having a manager call me tomorrow |
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
They are lying to you. The TP2 is compatible with legacy plans (like F&F and the original SERO). Keep calling until someone helps you.
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
+1 on the lying. I am on a F&F500 Sero plan, and my local store just swapped my TP1 out for a new in the box TP2.
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
same here. i have an old F&F 550 plan and i was able to upgrade fine.

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
I hate it when salespeople don't know what they are talking about and are too careless to help. On the phone or in a retail store. Seems like job requirements are attendance and "fare and moderit nawlidge of talkeeng in Enlish" Grrrr..... :banghead:

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
Im on the sero also still same price
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
same...never had my plan changed when i went to the TP2
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
F&F 300 here with a TP2.
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
thats what i thought, and the killer was the rep said that was the only plan compatible with my plan. then go online and find it was changed was like wtf, they claimed it did it automatically (they show my phone is a hero) im not sure if that was part of the issue or not, but all i know is they better be able to put me back on my old plan,

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
I have a plan from 2001 that I am still using with my TP2, but I was initially given the same story...I took the phone from the store and activated with a rep that knew what they were doing...it's not rocket science but some reps just don't know or care to try to help you...acct services should be able to fix it...the only issue could be loss of some legacy codes that no longer exist in the system if you had some old freebies...this has happened to me periodically over the years and it sucks...you lose a legacy code for something with no expiration, and it gets replaced by acct services after you put up a fight for what was rightfully yours, but EVERYTHING now has a one or two year expiration, so you can look forward to future fights with Sprint...really annoying...generally I don't let anyone outside acct services even touch my old plan anymore...I'm on the 2000min F&C for $85 from forever ago...

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
its works on legacy plans and sero ... but you require a unlimited data plan with it? not sure if you have unlimited data too (or highly suggested with the amount of data this phone will cause you to use)?
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
yes i had the $15 data addon same as i had with a tp
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
The Hero would be the issue. That does require an Everything Data plan. The TP2 does not. Doesn't require data at all....but whats the point of it then? lol
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
You should have just gone online and done the phone swap right thru your account and the online system. This is what I did when I swapped my TP1 for my TP2.This way CS isn't even involved.
I hope you can get your old plan back. |
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
as you can see in my sig, i have the f&f plan also. sounds like they want some more money out of ya. time to make that retentions call....................
|
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
I also feel its always to do the changes through the online system, so often those CS people make changes (accidentally or on purpose) to your plan, and since most of these are legacy plans, it's really hard to get certain features back (i.e. SERO!!!).

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
They tried to get my TP2 upgrade on an Everything Data plan, and after a few minutes I got them to add it to my old fair flex 800. I just bought my wife the Hero, and same story. They wouldn't budge. I asked 4 technical detail about WHY another plan is required, they said it uses a different type of data. This is bullshi*, all Sprint phones use 3G Rev A (except the cheapos). I called them out on that, then they conceded that it's simply their policy to charge MORE money for buying a new phone and renewing a contract. He acknowledged it wasn't fair to me, and added a recurring $20.00/mo credit to the account, in addition to the current 40% discounts I already receive. So 3 lines with Everything Data, unlimited airtime, unlimited mobile, etc for $93.00/month before tax. Came out ok, but the phone call took 2 hours.

IMO it's stupid that certain phones REQUIRE everything data plans (Hero, Instinct (all of them), Moment, Pre)... but fortunately the TP2 works fine on all Sprint plans. |
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
Yes the TP2 is compatible with older SERO plans. I've had a SERO 1250 plan for $49.95/mo with unlimited data for over two years on a Palm Centro, and I recently upgraded online to the TP2. There was no change in my plan at all and in fact I got the phone for $199 plus tax and I didn't have to sign up for another two years.
Regarding the unlimited data, this doesn't include what Sprint calls "premium" services. As far as I can tell, these would be Sprint Navigation (only works free for 7 days, after that $9.95/mo) and Sprint TV (almost everything has a monthly charge). The Nascar and NFL applications both seem to work fine without restrictions. So when Sprint says that the phone uses a "different type of data", what they mean is the "unlimited" data is different now because it includes these premium services. |

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
Be careful pushing too hard with the wrong reps...I had an issue over the summer that resulted from a rogue rep deciding to torpedo my account...I had to file an official complaint, but basically I had 30% in discounts from three different discounts, and this rep initiated an audit in the new system that only allows you to have one...I ended up with just a 20% Sprint loyalty discount (lost my work one and some smaller one)...this cannot and will not be replaced in the new IT systems, so be careful with that...40% off is insane and they KNOW no other carrier will approach this level of discount so bluffing to walk is not a concern to educated reps...glad to hear it worked out for you this time...also, that $20 credit, which I've gotten before, is not permanent...expect this to expire in a year...no matter what you were told, this is the case...trust me...

hey japper,
Im new to SERO... what is the EPRP site? |
Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
ok so i got an offer i had to take, they did offer me my plan back, but took them up on this the unlimited eveything 1500 mins, they are giving a 2yr credit of 26 a month off. but from my calculations its about $10 more a month for the 4 lines, and gives me texting now, 2 lines we will use it 2 probably wont

Re: tp2 not compatible with older fair and flex plans?
IMHO, the fact that ANY phone requires ANY specific plan is a bunch of BS. The only concession I would make for this is with older phones with outdated technology that would not allow the phone to access the network for services. Other than that, any phone that is able to use current network technologies should be able to use any plan provided that the carrier has not locked it out in order to make more money.

Basically when Sprint discontinued SERO (Sprint Employee Referral Offer) they replaced it with EPRP (Everything Plus Referral Plan), which is basically SERO [e.g. $50] but for twice as much [e.g. $60] (still cheaper than regular plans [e.g. $70]), but with the option to get any Sprint phone (aka the palm pre or htc hero) and with premier data included (Sprint Navigator + more SprintTV channels). SERO plan holders can still order phones and extend their contracts through the EPRP site and use rebate forms labels for EPRP only (which is good cause the total plan price requirements of regular rebates are higher than SERO plans, but EPRP rebates cover SERO plans). |

I also got it in black and white that the $20.00/mo is for as long as I am a customer. So I'm covered as long as I stay. Thanks for the input anyway :) |
