what on ur sim did they activate? because right now u could be charged for international data and voice + txt and dont know about it!! thats what the sprint sim is used for!!

and you only need to unlock your sim if u are trying to use a sim other then sprint branded!! ie vodafone,at&t, tmobile

i asked and the rep told me there's no charge. i don't know she activated, just said the sim card was now active. i told her i was in canada and bought a sim card from there but it didn't work. i've read stories about folks getting a code that lets the sprint sim work on any gsm network, including the us and was trying to see if this was true.

a unlocker is what allows the phone`s sim card slot to work on any gsm network not the sim card that is suppied by sprint! the only way sprints supplyed sim could unlock ur device for use on any gsm provider is if they(sprint) had some type of ota remote unlocking system. and i dont thank they have that! and i thing sim cards` imei numbers are network specific so i cant see a sprint sim working on another network!!
this is what u can do to test pop one of ur friends sim card for tmobile and see 1. do the phone see the card 2. can it read the card info 3. can it make calls using the gsm card number!

thanks bro, i'll test it out but was just wondering what all this meant. i guess once the customer service gets better with the sim unlocker, i'll buy one.

Just to clarify -- the Sprint TP2 is unlocked out of the box for foreign SIM cards used outside the U.S. You can take it anywhere outside the US, pop in any foreign sim, prepaid or whatever, and it will work -- no unlocking by Sprint or anyone else needed.

The cmonex sim unlocker is used to make the Sprint TP2 work on U.S. GSM networks (AT&T and T-MO sims). Use of the Sprint TP2 on GSM inside the U.S. is completely unsupported by Sprint, in fact the Sprint TP2 is programmed to ignore GSM signals when the phone is in the U.S. regardless of what sim is installed -- so to make it work on U.S. GSM a different radio ROM (also furnished by cmonex) has to be flashed to the phone, in addition to the sim unlocker.

The Sprint-supplied SIM is solely for overseas use. After being activated, it allows you to roam on overseas GSM networks at Sprint's very expensive roaming rates (like $3 a minute). It has no function inside the U.S. and can't result in charges to your account while you are in the U.S.
