ATT Tilt2 seems to time out on Sync (HTC Touch Pro2)

Experienced user with Tilt2 upgrade from HTC tilt.

While setting up and tweaking phone, my ActiveSync seems to remain connected for 2-2.5 mins max. I sync to outlook 2007 and have 4900 contacts.

Suggestions on how/where to troubleshoot AS shutting down after 2 minutes?
