mightyrom weather my location doesnt give a real location...
 

Ok so running mighty rom (current version) and when I go to update the weather all I get is a generic location it seems (ie: indiana when im really in indianapolis). It worked for a while now it wont update my real location and the weather for my location is wrong to. whats wrong? it worked on the first build of mighty just fine until I reflashed and never worked again. So annoying since I use it quite often...

BTW location is on and all

It can't pinpoint you specifically enough to give a city/town, but is close enough to know the state and general weather. Try updating again and see if it works for you.

Well i am on mighty and I always get the right city. Now it could be night time and it shows the sun, but then i just run a weather update.

Do you happen to be using an airave or similiar device? I only have that issue when I am home connecting through that.

Ive always gotten a city in the past and the exact city i was in and no im not using an airave. this is like the most annoying issue other than that the rom is basicly perfect.

LOL I think it's an issue with all the rom's, I'm using energy's and one hour in im paris and another hour i'm in my state and then well it stops then starts lol.

My clock has gone stupid too~!

actually, ive foudn it to be VERY accurate...for example, i live in columbia, SC...most of the time it just shows columbia, but form time to time it will show smaller towns that are within columbia (irmo, blythewood, west columbia etc) i was quite surprised to know that it could get this accurate...sorry ur having that problem tho

When I booted the ROM mine showed "New York" I assumed they meant the city, as I live in Queens. But after reading this issue, Im guessing it meant state. What I did was installed Conflippers weather DB, found Ozone Park, and added it.

I know it can be accurate, but when it can't get a good GPS position, it just displays the state.

Mine always shows the correct city. ( I added it using conflippers weather Db) but sometimes the time gets messed up. I am in Richmond, CA and it changes the time to Richmond,VA and my alarms will start going off early, So i just dont use the my location as my clock weather and have it set on one of the cities that I added.. its a pain but oh well. Anyone know how to fix it? if not no big deal...

Mine is always pretty close to accurate. If i am on the city boarder it will just say Illinois but if i am actually in the city it will tell me Rockford. If i don't have GPS signal at all where i am it will triangulate my location which will usually give me a Machesney Park city which is just outside of where i am actually at.

Its weird in some places it will give me the exact city and location....when I am at home it doesn't display my city....instead it says I'm located elsewhere....I don't think it has to do with GPS signal at my house since Google maps finds me fine.

Wish mike would fix this because in every other rom ive used its worked and been accurate 100% of the time. I just hard reset the phone and now it shows im in washington. I give up this is the one biggest annoyance this rom has.

On energy mines pinpoints me down to the city...sometimes even the part of town.

just change the correct time and timezone in the windows time settings NOT in the manila one and it will fix itself

My location weather showed up on the Home screen, everything very accurate, then all of a sudden it stop showing on the home screen and defaulted to on of the cities I selected. If I go to Weather the current location is listed but can no longer display it on the Home screen. Any clues?

Mike explained it somewhat here. While his post refers to the GPS location, it and the weather are running off the same HTC Geo Service driver.

Its so wierd. In my case the only time I get the right location is using MightyROM. With all other ROMs it shows me Washington when I am in Ames, IA.

Connect via wifi then update your weather, it should set the correct location, but it will change again next time it updates via 777.

OK, so since running Mr. X's 2.1 release for the past 3 weeks, I honestly have no major issues with it; EXCEPT THIS ONE.

I ran CFay's rom before that and it said what specific city/town I was in, as I traveled from place to place. Since I've been running Mr. X's, it only says "New York" no matter where I am. It's not until I'm out in Long Island that it will change to that city.

I installed Conflipper's database last night, but no change. Still says "New York" no matter where I am. I wouldn't mind it, if I didn't use a rom previously that was more specific. Any fixes for this? TIA.

Same issue here. I think by New York it means the city, AKA Manhattan being New York City b/c when in Brooklyn it says Brooklyn.
It used to show neighborhood cities in Queens ie Long Island City, Astoria, and Jackson Heights but no longer. I dunno what changed.

I know my thread goes fast, but i've also posted the original sprint geo service .dll that was in the sprint 6.5 rom.

I'm using a different one which shows my real location rather than sprints because it showed me Ontario whch is my province.

Go into my thread and find it :) I think its around 500ish post.

Or you can just click the paperclip and download the htc geoservice .cab i posted.

Mine will show the Data Center my Sprint Air Rave 3G hotspot at home connects to rather than my actual location. I dont suspect there is any work around for that since it uses the broadband instead of the towers/gps, right? :D

Thanks; glad to know it's not just me. Which rom are you using BTW? I ran CFay's from Nov-Jan and it always showed the cities within Queens. Then when I switched over to Mr. X around Feb, it just says New York. What's odd is that it used to show some bigger cities like Jamaica and Forest Hills when I was travelling. But for the past few weeks, nothing but New York.

I am running mikes latest rom and I haven't had any issues with weather location(I live in Georgia). I just flew down to the virgin islands a few days ago and it still gets all the little cities right.

Hi All,
I just installed the sprint 6.5 vs from 6.1
Now i have the local weather displayed under my clock
which is cool but I don't want it there all the time. How the heck
do I remove it, there must be a place to de-select it right?
I can't find this to save my life, even stumped Sprint's tech help they hung up on
me! Anyone know how to de-select this?

This cab did nothing. I live in Norcross GA....the zip code is 30093....why in the hell is this thing still saying I live in Lilburn after I installed this so called fix cab??? Zip 30047?? Seriously? I have never been to Lilburn and could not even tell you where it is. I googled it and its about 20 minutes away from where I am. WTF?? Has anyone found a fix because the one Mike posted obviously does nothing!:angry7:
