Can TP2 be flashed before activation?
 

I was lucky to get my friend who is a manager at my local Verizon store to warranty my 6800 for a TP2. I have been reading multiple post on flashing ROMs & I believe I have settled on Mighty Mikes. I have a few questions regarding the flash process.

1) Can I flash the ROM before I actually activate the phone? I need my 6800 for tethering the internet on my PC when unlocking the TP2. Can I unlock it, then activate it, then flash it? Will I need the internet for the flash (I already have the ROM downloaded to my PC)?

2) Do I have to unlock the phone & the SIM card for the Flash? What is the benefit of unlocking the SIM?

3) Does the current version of MightyRom have the latest update & does it include a Radio flash as well? Where can I find the VZ specific carrier cab?

I am a noob & this will be my first flash. Please don't tell me to use the search, I have read all over & still I do not feel 100% certain of the exact way to perform the flash. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to end up with a brick.

however i reccomend programing before flashing as dialers act funny somtimes

You need only unlock the phone (Hard SPL aka HSPL aka unlocker). You do not have to SIM unlock to flash a phone. Benefit of unlocking the SIM is being able to use your phone on another carriers GSM network instead of roaming on their network.

you can but i would activate as stock and make sure every thing works as it should first

I'd recommend activating the phone and using it for a day so you'll have a baseline for how it is suppose to work and to detect any problems that come up that may have nothing to do with reflashing the rom.

my only issue will be if I need the internet when flashing or unlocking the TP2. I use my phone to tether my PC.
I don't believe I can sync & tether at the same time. do I only need the internet for unlocking with the license? thanks for the help.

i am not sure i understand your question, but unlocking and then flashing to another rom should take about 30 min at the most and then u can go back to tethering your phone.

ok,a post I read on unlocking stressed being able to sync the phone as well as having access to the internet for the license verification. If I activate the TP2 first, I will not be able to connect to the internet while it is synchronized for the unlock. am I missing something or misunderstanding it?
