Travelling

I have a Sprint TP2 and am about to go overseas. I think I will be purchasing a sim card there, do I need to do anything special in order to use it? I heard that the sprints TP2's are already unlocked to work overseas just not locally in the US.

In essence, can I just remove the sprint sim card and replace it with another?

Sorry for the noob question.

I'm planning on taking my VZW to eastern Europe in a few weeks
and was wondering on how to do this. Would I purchase the SIM
Card in the states, or over there (i.e. Orange, etc, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

All the Best!

Re: Travelling

I have a Sprint TP2, and one of the main reasons I got the phone is so I could use it in other countries, so I was wondering about a few things,
1) If I go overseas and buy a SIM card from a provider there, will my current sprint number change, or will it stay the same?
2) How can you tell if your phone is already unlocked for overseas use? (I'm not really sure how it works because I've never traveled out of the country).
3) Will Sprint charge me roaming charges, or do I only get charged for the minutes I buy from the pre-paid provider I will be using there?
4) How do I set my phone up to use the GSM network in the county I'm visiting? (It would be nice to quickly call the people I'm visiting, to let them know I arrived). :)

Thank you for your help,

1) you will get a local number from the sim card there, but you should still call up sprint and enable international calling for your phone so you always have a backup to use your sprint sim card if your prepay sim card overseas runs out or what not
2) sprint has it unlocked overseas already but still call up sprint and enable international calling like i suggested
3) if you use sprint sim card, sprint charges you; if you use overseas prepay sim card, then you use those minutes/data from the local provider there.
4) your phone is already supposed to be on global mode with a sim card in there but you can always put it on gsm only mode ... ummm cant remember where exactly but its in your phone's manual
