Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
What is the best custom ROM for the CDMA TOUCH PRO 2 (SPRINT, VERIZON, ETC.)?
I have tried EnergyRom (Leo)(21864), but the fact that the landscape mode doesnt work and the battery drains really fast, made me change my mind and try another build. Now, can anyone in this forum please tell which is the best ROM that can support landscape mode and doesn't go blank when the phone rotated.?? |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
it went black because the leo isn't doesn't have a hardware keyboard and therefore doesn't need to rotation of the screen. you were using manilla 2.5, look for a rom running 2.1 and you'll have your rotation. right now i'm using mightymike and i'm quite impressed with speed stability and battery life but to each their own. try a few out just make sure you look for manilla 2.1.

so your best bet would be any rom with manila 2.1. if you like energy, try his "photon" rom. i'm personally digging jd's rhopazio rom at the moment |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
I have to say that if you want something that is smooth and stable then Mighty's ROM is my favorite, I've run it since the HSPL came out. I only went looking for something else because I wanted a 6.5.1 ROM.

I have been using NRG Photon with good results. I beleive the key is using a rom that doesn't have tf3d at all if your really looking for performance. -T

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
These "best rom" threads are so open-ended and therefore tend to solicit subjective responses.
The previous post / explanation about why you can't get landscape means you're left trying any rom that is not using manilla 2.5 (sense ui). Try the manilla 2.1 roms out and decide which suites you best. Different chefs often customize roms to their liking that include or exclude particular apps, settings, themes, etc. This tends to either keep you with one particular chef, or keep you away from them, but you really do have to try them out for yourself and decide for yourself. That's really what this whole site is about IMO. |

I think my SSK ROMS are pretty darn nice ;c)

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
I highly recommend JD's rom for 6.5 builds and SSK for 6.5.1 (Using the kitchen of course). Juicy is my usual but I have some issues with 2.5 manilla.

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
Absolutely right, I'm gonna go with manila 2.1, beccause I want performance and battery life, i'm not interested in eye candy at this moment.
Thanks. |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
Thank you all for your replies, you really helped me decide what to do.
Well done! |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
The phrase "eye candy" is becoming such a cliché!!! I would not confuse manila 2.5 with "eye candy". Yes it looks really nice, but it is more than that. Personaly I never used TF3D 2.1 because I just didn't find it useful. I had to go to too many places to find what I was looking for. I considered 2.1 "eye candy" personally.
With 2.5 I have some of my most used icons on the home tab, and I have an agenda view I can keep always visible in my calendar instead of some monthly view. To others I'm sure the twitter tab is useful too, amongst other enhancements. These are not merely eye candy, they enhance productivity. I don't know where you're getting your info on battery life from. I've had no issues with mine and as far as I can tell it lasts as long now as it did when I was running stock. In terms of performance, the ROM I'm using now is fantastic too. I personally don't use my phone whilst in manila in landscape, so that's a non-issue here. I also don't use MMS, so that's not a deal breaker either. If do you rely on either of those two functions / features then yes you should weigh up your choices / options first. Just my $0.02....damn, another cliché!!! |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
Energy ROM build 23504 has great performance and it supports landscape!

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
I will say that I seem to have better battery life with the current ROM that I am using which runs Manila 2.5. I can't say for sure if Manila 2.5 provides better battery life, but it certainly doesn't diminish it.

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
You might try EnergyROM with Titanium. It doesn't have Manilla but it is VERY FAST and so far very reliable. It also has 100 meg free at startup!
|
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
I've tried Calkulin's, the mighty rom and Energy so far.
and from what I've experienced Mighty Rom is the fastest and most stable. Energy is good looking but way to buggy for my taste. |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
Im using MIGHTY's rom.. Except for the one random automatic hard reset ... its been rock solid and FAST! also the forum thread is great and questions get answered quickly!

1 vote for freeza's barenaked rom, I dislike tf, I came from palm and the win 6.1 with some custom cabs is working best for me. Only 26% cpu use at startup!

All I care about is. 1. Making and receiving phone calls 2. Sync with our exchange servers. 3. Email working with exchange. 4. Navigation. 5. Battery life. 6. Maybe care about web browser or Microsoft store. What is the best rom. Touch sense flo from. Htc was always liked. Please help... Thanks in advance... We are new to this and just want to extend life of phones till new ones come out. We tried to upgrade to LG fathom but users revolted loss of Htc sense. |

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
MightyRom from 2-10-10. manila 2.1 and only version that doesn't have random b.s. issues. Energy Titainium build is nice but I'm just too lazy to relearn how to use it.

Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
i say for 6.5 any rom with build 21916 is going to be very fast, stable and reliable. the rom im going to release very soon will also be a 21916 rom as i dislike 6.5.x because some programs i require do not display well. besides 6.5 any 6.1 rom released here is good except for blackout rom if u or anyone else u know also speak another language other than english.

No more development is happening on those ROMs as mentioned above (February was latest release) -EnergyROMs are still being updated but now the added droid like features surpass our hardwares best-operational parameters (my opinion) (as i am writing this, a user next to me is talking about his piece of crap phone..lol) |

Before this I used WinMO 6.5 stock ROM and SPB mobile shell. It was terrible compared to Energy. Hit sleep of death often, sometimes the phone rang but I couldn't answer. Both the on-screen slider and the hardware answer key wouldn't work. Energy seems to run down the battery slightly quicker, but I don't care. I have 2 backup batteries in my backpack. So far I can go through a day without using the backup. |
Re: Best Custom Rom for performance on CDMA TOUCH PRO 2
The other problem with stock ROM + SPB MS is when the signal is weak at a fringe area, the phone became very very sluglish. Often it just did not respond at all. If I hit the reboot botton a few times, the phone would say that it wasn't shut down properly and ask for a hard reset.
This also happens when I travel to overseas and use the local sim card. Almost everytime I land in Europe or Asia when I wanted to call home, the phone wouldn't work and want a hard reset. Extremely frustrating. I am going camping this week in the woods. the signal will probably be poor. I'll see what happens now the phone is on Energy ROM. |
