Custom messaging/mms/email notification tones...need help

I know we can make our custom ringtones with MP3 trimmer. I've been trying to set several custom notification tones for sms/mms/voicemail/email.

Going to the settings>>sound&display>>notification sounds
allows the user to change the notification tones and/or add vibrations as well.

I have been trying to assign a custom ringtones (ie star tours chime for sms) and not have any luck.

I have dropped those mp3 files into the ringtone folder in the windows directory. I have renamed the star tours chime with one of the native htc alert tones. Even after a soft reset, that renamed alert tone in the notification sound menu remains the factory alert tone.

I am currently running a custom ROM made from Calkulin's VK...I encountered this issue when I ran Juicy's ROM as well...any help and knowledge to put me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I know that the MP3 trimmer only supplies the ringtone for the phone calls themselves.

What format do I need to put the alert tones in? that's the easy part...and what folder under /windows do they have to go?

actually I have looked at those files that the mms/sms/email uses for audio alerts...there were .mp3, .wav AND .wma files in there...so I didn't know what to do. If they were all one type of file...I would have taken that logical step and converted my mp3's into whatever those other files were.

For the sake of I've tried everything under the sun...(that I know of)...I converted my mp3's into .wav's The tones and notification is still not picking it up as a choice to choose those files for the notification events I want.

did my soft resets and what not...still no joy.

Am running Juicy R3 now...if that matters...will probably bring this into the ROM threads for help

You can keep them any format you want, just drop them in the root of your storage card. Works for all notifications.

Heres the folder for MMS annd SMS: Application Data > sounds. Then go into your settings and they should be there. And they CAN be Mp3s, I have a ton there. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong lol
