Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

I have the Sprint HTC touch pro 2. I am trying to use qpst and cdma workshop to change the msl code. However, when the phone in diag/bootloader mode, it always connect using USB while the tools require the phone to connect in COM serial mode. How do I force the phone to go to serial mode in diag?

Thanks in advance.

Remove your Storage Card. It sounds lke you have an IMG trying to load.

I believe you need to install the HTC com modem driver on your PC first.

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

I have tried to remove the storage card and install the driver but still can't get the com port connection. When the usb cable is unplugged, the bootloader screen started with "serial" but when I plugged in the usb cable to the pc, it changes to usb. I don't see serial connection in the PC device -> Port -> COM associated with the phone.
Any idea?

BTW, I can't dial ##3424# to get to bootloader. I have to soft reboot the phone and press the volume down button to get to the tricolor bootloader screen. I hope this is the screen that I suppose to go to change the MSL.

Thanks

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

Bootloader is different then Diag mode. Bootloader will not work.

If the ##3424 or ##3424# codes don't work for you, try going to the Windows directory, locate LaunchDMRouter, and tap it to start Diag. mode.

You must put the phone in Diagnostics mode
, then:

Check your device manager to see which port the HTC modem is actually on.

Then go into QPST Configuration and add new port, select the one you just found it to be on in device manager.

Then you should be able to open QPST Service Programming and change your MSL.

If you need further assistance, let me know.

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

Thanks very much Santod for the clarification and your offer to assist.
I was under the impression that they were the same.
So, bootloader is used to load custom rom, but the diag is used for programming?

I tried to call both ##3424# and ##3424, but it does not bring me to diag. It acts like I am calling a regular phone. I also tried to launch dmrouter.exe from windows directory, but it won't launch the program.
Do you have any idea

Do you think the file is corrupt? Where can I get the dmrouter.exe in case the one that I have is broken? I am using the stock SPRINT rom.

Thanks

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

I think I got it know. I need to run the dmrouter from nopen to be able to access diag.
Thank you all for your help.

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

Glad you got it.

Run from nopen? What does that mean exactly? Just curious, since mine doesn't seem to run on my current rom either.

Re: Can't get serial connection in bootloader mode

I used dialer from ppcshield and that caused the ##3424# not working. I have to run the dmrouter from nopen to be able to run it. I also changed back the dialer to the original one and now I can use ##3424#.
