Cooking: NBHUtil has stopped working [error]

Hi guys, well I have been looking around but haven't found any relevant information but here goes, hopefully I don't get yelled at again... lol http://www.sskusers.net/support/imag...ies/tongue.gif

I have been trying to cook my own ROM (for days now) using the kitchen, I have gotten my OEMs together and the kitchen goes through all the motions until it launches the NGHUtil app and then it just stops and I get a windows error that says "NBHUtil has stopped working". Any ideas? I am using Windows 7 32Bit on my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

nbhutil doesn't work right on my windows7 x64 so it might not work on x86 either... also, make sure you have .net framework 2.0 installed

Arrrgh!!! Well that's not a good thing... Figures. So there is no fix or workaround for this I presume?

well, i actually don't have the same problem that you do... it will actually run for me but it won't do what it's supposed to do. so it may be a different issue
have you tried installing the .net framework?

Re: Cooking: NBHUtil has stopped working [error]

.net framework is already a part of Windows 7, at least that was the message I got when I tried to install it. That it was already a part of the original Windows installation...

does it work if you just run the nbhutil.exe? if so, it might be an issue with the kitchen you're using

Re: Cooking: NBHUtil has stopped working [error]

Yes actually it does run if I run the .exe file for nbhutil, seems ok. Hum, the kitchen you say.

I also did it with a stock rom and tried to recreate it without changing anything and nbhutil stopped the kitchen/cooking when it was launched as well.

if the kitchen actually builds the .nb files, just manually select rhodiumw and insert the files to build the nbh (if you're comfortable doing so)

You know I have read about that in several other places but I am not exactly sure of how to go about it, I have the jist of it. The kitchen does indeed build the .nb file... Files??? How many are there normally?

if you're just flashing the OS, then only one (if you were including a custom splash, etc, there'd be more than one)
anyhoo, just use the "target device" dropdown and select "rhodiumw", then the "..." next to the OS box. open your .nb file there and then push "Build NBH!"

i have been using evk with windows 7 since the first beta with no issues. i just recently had this same problem though, but it was fixed by restarting the pc.

So I don't have the settings for Touch Pro 2 (rhodiumw) in the list of devices in the NBHUtil app. I am assuming that I should, or is it the same as the Touch Pro?

I really appreciate you helping me.

no, don't use the touch pro ones! ... that'd be a bad situation lol
try this version of nbhutil. it should be there
maybe that's where the kitchen is having a problem... pushing the rhodium settings

Sweet Jesus! That worked quite well on its own, lets see if the kitchen can use it. I am ever so grateful for your help!!! I really mean it... Crazy thing was that the kitchen that I was using had the settings got the Touch Pro and not the TP2... Interesting since that kitchen was created to be used for the TP2.

I will report back with my test.

Ok so if it fails again with the kitchen I will try to restart the computer, I did do that earlier but it won't hurt to try again...

Thanks!

Ok strra, so what I did was disabled my AV software and uncompressed the kitchen again and dumped my ROM in order to have that as a starting point for my new ROMs. That all went well, I then updated the NBHUtil file that came with the kitchen's tools with the one that you supplied me (thank you again). And I was able to create a ROM. Stock albeit, but I just wanted to test that indeed everything was working and it did. Seems that the NBHUtil file that I had wasn't setup right and also the anti virus program wasn't allowing NGHUtil to properly launch and run in the process of the ROM making if it was active. I also updated a few other files in the tools folder of the kitchen and it seems to be working fine now.

So I want to thank you for all the help, it made all the difference.
